HELD TUESDAY, FEB.RUARY 12~ 1963
President Schlaver opened the meeting az 8:15 P.M., and upon
roll call, the following members were present:

Gaw Pres. Schlaver Casterline.
Bruhl and Casterline arrived later.
Trustee Ekren, seconded by Trustee Gaw, moved for approval of
the minutes of Februar~ 5th as submitted.
Upon roll call: Ayes: Bickley Ekren Gaw minutes
Absent: Phillips, Bruhl and Casterline
Pass: President Schlaver
Motion carried.
Trustee Gaw, seconded by Trustee Ekren, moved for approval of
the following bills:

Trustee Bruhl arrived au 8:20 P.M.
President Schlaver announced that Attorney Hofert was temporarily Hatlen
ill, and delegated J. C. King, Finance Director, with the advice of Hts. well
Mr. Hofert, to put into final written form oral agreements between the
Village and Cook County Water Corporation. He added that there were plans
to test the well in question the following day.
Trustee Casterline arrived at 8:23 P.M.
Trustee Bick!ey announced that Police School attendance has risen Police
to 75 from 58, and that Policewoman Joan Hujanen has completed a course Dept
in criminology at De Kalb University. Trustee Bickley also read letter of
commendation for attempts of Fire § Police Departments to save his
father's life after a heart attack which turned out to be fatal, from
Roger A. Johnston of 106 Hi Lusi.
Trustee Ekren read petition shown herein for annexation of ANNEXATION
Louis Gardens Subdivision. This is a strip of land next to Golfhurst Louis
Subdivision, abutting its western edge, 300 feet wide, running between Gardens
Golf Road and the C~eek.

MOUNT PROSPECT IN THE MATTER OF THE ANNEXATION
OF CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT.
PETITION FOR ANNEXATION
Now comes the undersigned Petitioner, not individually but as Trustee
under its Trust Number 16648, and requests that the Board of Trustees
February 12, 1963

Louis of the Village of Mount Prospect approve the annexation to the
Gardens Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois of the following
described real property:
Lot 7*(except the:W 325.71 ft, measured at right
angles to the W line thereof, and except that part
of Lot 7 described as follows: Beginning at the
intersection of the E line of the W 325.71. feet,
measured at rt angles to the W line thereof, Lot 7 ~-~
w/ the Sly line of Lot 7; thence N on the E line
of the W 825.71 ft aforesaid, 344 ft; thence E at
mt angles to the E line of the W 325.71 ft of Lot 7,
148 ft; thence S on a line parallel w/the E line of
the W 325.71 ft. of Lot 7, 318.66 ft to the Sly line
of Lot 7; thence Wly on the Sly line of Lot 7,
145.23 ft to the place of beginning) in Owner's
Sub of Sec. 13, Twp. 41 N, R-il, E 3rd P~M. (except
that part of said tract taken for Golf Road) in
Cook County, Illinois.
In support of said Petition, the undersigned Petitioner does hereby
represent that it is the holder of title of record of all of the above
described real property, that it has been advised by the beneficiaries,
of said Trust that said property is not presently within the corporate
limits of any municipality but is adjacent and contiguous to the
Village of Mount Prospect.
The undersigned does further hereby represent that it has been advised
by the beneficiaries of said Trust that said property is vacant and
that there are no electors residing on said property.
Wherefore, it is respectfully requested that said real property he
annexed to the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois.

ANNEXATION passage of Ord. 893:
LOUIS GARDENS
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING PROPERTY IMMEDIATELY NORTH
OF GOLF ROAD AND APPROXIMATELY BISECTED BY A
DEDICATED STREET KNOWN AS LOUIS STREET, TO THE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT.

Trustee Ekren read the following letter from the Plan Commission:

The Plan Commission recommends to the Village Board the approval of
the attached plat of Louis Gardens. Your attention is called to the
fact that the south half of L0nnqulst Blvd. has not been dedicated
through this subdivision, nor was it dedicated through Golfhurst

ubdivision which lies just east of the subdivision under consideration.

Trustee Ekren, seconded by Trustee Bickley, moved, that the recommendation
of the Plan Commission be concurred in by the Board and that this approval
is subject to approval of plans for public improvements, establishment of
escrows, furnishing of bonds, etc. as required by Village ordinances.

Trustee Ekren read petition of annexation from Shell Oil Co. Zoning Case
This property is on the east side of Main Street between Foundry and 63-1, Shell 0il
Highland. Petition for

be directed to hold hearing before the Zoning Board of Appeals for
rezonlng and Special Use requested by Shell Oil Company.

Trustee Ekren read petition for annexation from the Davey Tree
Company: ANNEXATION
PETITION -
"The undersigned, being the sole owner of record of the real DAVEY TREE
estate hereinafter described and there being no electors residing property
upon said real estate, does hereby request that the following described
real estate be annexed to and become a part of the Village of Mount Prospect.
"Petitioner states that said real estate is not within the
corporate limits of any municipality and that said real estate is contiguous
to the Village of Mount Prospect.
"Said real estate is legally described as follows:
That part of the Southeast quarter of the Southeast
quarter of Section Fifteen (15) and that part of
the Northeast quarter of the Northeast quarter of
Section Twenty-two (22), all in Twp. 41 North,
Range 11, East of the Smd P.M., lying South of the
center line of old Algonquin Road and north of the
South 5 acres of said Northeast quarter of the
Northeast quarter and East of a line 210 ft. East
of (measured at right angles to) and parallel with
the West line of said quarter section lines and
West of a line 395.14 ft. East of (measured at
right angles to) and parallel with the West line of
said quarter section lines.

Trustee Ekren read letter of application for rezoning from Davey Tree Expert
Company. This letter requests B-3 zoning and variations to allowing
extension of steel "But~er Building" already on premises, and permission to
store products for sale outside the building and to park vehicles and equip-
ment used in the petitioner's business.

be directed to ask the Zoning Board to hold hearing on their zoning Case 63-4

Manager Appleby reported that request for annexation had been
annexation received for property at 600 Rand Road~, which is approximately ~-~:
request opposite Memory Lane if extended, with B-3 zoning for garden supply
Rand Road business; this includes abo~t an acre of land. This matter was
WheelinK Twp referred to the Judiciary Committee.
County Manager Appleby stated he had received report from
Zoning Mr. Baughmann of Tech Search that he can t~stify in opposition to the
Docs. 421, proposed zoning in County'Zoning Dockets 421, 422 and 423.

Trustee Ekren~ seconded by Trustee Bickley, moved that the Village
Attorney and the Village Manager represent the Village and oppose
the proposed zoning, at zoning hearing to be held in this regard on
February 20th in the County Building and that the Village employ
Mr. Baughmann as expert witness on behalf of the Village.

Engineering President Schlaver asked the Building Committee to make
Dept. recommendation the following week regarding employment of help for
the Engineering Department in the form of a draftsman. ~
President Schlaver read the following letter from the Combined
Appeal: ~

Board of Trustees
Village of Mount Prospect
Gentlemen:
The Mount Prospect Combined Appeal has selected the period
from October 5 through October 15 for the 1963 campaign, and permission
is hereby requested to conduct the annual fund drive at that time.
The Board of Directors greatly appreciates the continued
strong support of the Village Trustees, and we thank Mr. Appleby for
the fine letters he has written to-outside organizations requesting
permission to hold fund drives.
In view of the favorable results of our most recent campaign,
we feel highly encouraged over prospects for the futur~. Our new
board met last night (Feb. 6) and plans for the next drive are already
under way.
We would appreciate confirmation Of the above noted campaign
dates.

Trustee Bruhl, seconded by Trustee Ekren, moved that the dates of'
October 5 through October 15 be set aside for the yearly campaign
of the Combined Appeal. This motion carried by acclamation.
