BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD IN MUNICIPAL
BUILDING ON MARCH 14, 1981
President Lams called the meeting to order at".8:33 P.M. with roll call
the following trustees present: Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Gaw, Norris
and Schlaver.
Trustee Casterllne, seconded by Trustee Gaw, moved that the minutes
minutes cf the previous meeting of March 7th be approved as submitted.
The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll, with the
following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Gaw, Norris
and Schlaver. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
Trustee Gaw, seconded by Trustee Ekren, moved that the following
bills for the week of March 14th be approved as follows:
L~ General - $ 2,311.55
CO Garbage - 1~3~7 bills
~ Water, operations 13,586.83
~ Water Bond & Int.1955 5,175.00
~!~ $21~087.95
The President put the question, %he Clerk called the roll, with the
following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Gaw, Norris
and Schlaver. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
Trustee Schlaver, seconded by Trustee Ekren, moved that the water -
Village Manager be directed to have the Village Attorney prepare a emergency
resolution and agreementthat will enable emergency water connections connection~
to be set up between Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect; and Des Plaines
and Mount Prospect. The President put the question, the Clerk called
the roll, with the following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline,
Ekren, Gaw, Norris and Schlaver. Whereupon the President declared the
motion carried.
Discussion was held regarding the recent incidence of stray
dogs and dog bites. Trustee Ekren suggested that the dog catchers Dogs
(Kay's Animal Shelter) be asked to make an intensive patrol for two or
three full days te see if this action might turn up any more violators.
Trustee Casterline, seconded by Trustee Airey, moved that the Street
recommendation of the Village Manager be accepted and that he be lights
authorized to proceed with agreements with Public Service Company to
install 2~ - 20, O00-1umen lights on Northwest Highway between Elm and
Central Road. The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll,
with the following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren,
Gaw, Norris and Schlaver. Whereupon the President declared the motion
carried.
Discussion was held regarding raising of salaries of the Salaries -
President, Clerk and Board members, and it was decided to defer elected official~
action on this matter until next week after the members have had a chance
to go over reaults of a study made by Trustee Norris.
Trustee Airey, seconded by Trustee Norris, moved for adoption of
proposed Resolution #4-81:
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING TNE YEARLY SALARY Res. 4-81
OF THE POLICE MAGISTRATEAT $3,900.
The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll, with the
following repponse: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Gaw, Norris
and Schlaver. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.

President Lams read the following memo from the Village
Manager:
County zoning "Decket #146 befere Ceunty Zening Board of Appeals,

special use to permit a well and 128'-high, 600,000-
gallon water tower sn west side of Linneman Road
Just south of Commonwealth. Edison transmissien line.
This should improve fire protection and provide water
for United Air Line~. It appeared te be a very
reasonable request and we did net ask for time."
President Lams read the following letter frem the Meunt
Prospect Community Achievement Association:

Dear Mr. Lams:
The Mount Prospect Community Achievement Association is
planning te held a rummage sale on April 8th.
We would like to have the permission of the Village to hold
this sale in the area in front of the railroad station. We also
request the use of the parking lots on both sides of the railroad
station in connection with the sale on April 8th. The railread has
been contacted and have given their permission, and have said that in
case of rain the sale could move into the station itself.
We appreciate your consideration in this matter. Thank you.

Trnstee Casterline, seconded by Trustee Gaw, moved that the Board
approve this rummage sale and wish. them success in their venture.

Trustee Airey read the following letter fr~_m the Plan

Village President and Board of Trustees
Village of Meunt Prospect
Gentlemen:
The Plan Commission to whom was referred the final pl~t of
Colenial Heights First Addition for study and recommendation, recom-
mends that the plat be approved, the necessary land dedication for
public use having been made for this area.

Trustee Airey, seconded by Trustee Ekren, moved that the Board concur
in the recommendation of the Plan Commission for plat of Colonial
Heights First Addition and that the President and Clerk be authn~ized
to sign said plat. The President put the question, the Clerk called
the roll, with the following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Caster-
line, Ekren, Caw, Norris and Schlaver. Whereupon the President
declared the motion carried.

The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll, with the
following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Gaw,
Norris and Schlaver. Whereupon the President declared the motion
carried and Ordinance #?62 passed.

Trustee Gaw, secondedbyT~6stee Casterline, moved that for the Payment of
Village election to be held April lSth, the Village Clerk be and he is judges of
hereby authorized to pay each Judge of e~ecticn $25- per day, and that election
rental for each polling place is established at $25- per day. The
President put the question,the Clerk called the roll, with the following
response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Gaw, Norris and
Schlaver. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
Trustee Norris, seconded by Trustee Ekren, moved that any Hospital-
employees of the Park District and Librarywho are eligible be permitted ization
~'~ to come under the Village Hospitalization insurance program at no cost Insurance
' to the Village. The President put the question, the Clerk called the
!~ roll, with the folleeing response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline,
Ekren, Gaw, Norris and Schlaver. Whereupon the President declared the
motisn carried.
Trustee Casterlime, seconded by Trustee Norris, moved for
adjournment and the meeting was regularly adjourned at iO:lY P.M.
