TUESDAY, JANUARY 9, 1982
President Schlaver called the meeting to order at 9:05 P.M. and
upon roll call the following answered Present: roll call

Trustee Bruhl, seconded by Trustee Gaw, moved for approval of bills
payment of following bills:
General - $14,605. $1
Parking System Revenue B12.00

Trustee Ekren, seconded by Trustee Bickley, moved for approval of
the minutes of January 2, 1962.

Motion carried.
Trustee Bruhl,. seconded by Trustee Casterline, moved that the
following life insurance program for employees will be made mandatory Village Life
for all if approved by the majority of village employees: That the Insurance
present group life insurance program be increased from $2,000 per employee
to $5,000, with one-third of the premium to be paid by the insured and
two-thirds to be paid by the Village.

Inasmuch as Hatlen Heights filed petition for annexation with the Annexation
Clerk of the Circuit Court, Trustee Ekren, seconded by Trustee Bickley, Hatlen Hts.
moved that Conseer, Townsend & Associates, Village Engineers, be asked to
give estimate for cost of study of the value of the water system ~f Hatlen
Heights Subdivision.

Trustee Bickley, seconded by Trustee Ekren, moved that the Village Traffic
Attorney be authorized to draw an ordinance authorizing the erection of 2-hr parking
2-hour parking signs to be posted in the Village at the following places:
1.On the west side only of William Street from the Northwest
Highway north to the alley, and
2.On the west side only of Louis Street from the Nor~uwest
Highway north to the alley.

Trustee Gaw, seconded by Trustee Casterline, moved that the
Sidewalks following areas be included in any proceedings that may be necessary
to install sidewalks:
Installation of five-foot-wide walk from Arthur'Avenue at the west
edge of the Village running eastward along the north side of Central
Road to the intersection of Northwest Highway and the railrmad tracks,
except w~ere walk is alread~ in; survey of this stretch has been made
by engineers; and extension 6f five-foot wade walk from its eastern
terminus on Central Road (Serafine Subdivision) to the present eastern
limits of the Village (~estgate ·Road), including instructions to the
Village engineers to make the necessary survey and estimate for this
eastern end of the walk.

Motion carried.
Street Dept. Trustee Gaw commended the Street Department, who with the aid
Snow of other Village Employees, 'did an excellent Job of clearing the streets
during the recent heavy snowfall.
Village Manager Appleby reported that petition had been received
Traffic from businessmen along Hain Street between Northwest' Highway and Central
Parking along requesting 2-hour parking instead of the present posted 1-hour
Main St. downtown parking. This matter, together with a review of all parking regu- lations in the business district, was referred to the Police Committee.
Park President Schlaver was given consent by Board members to set u~
meeting with members of the Park District Board for exploration of
common problems, this meeting to be held in the Village Hall at $:00 P.M.
January l§th.
Attorney Hofert reported on the suit against the Village 2or
"Tropic of Cancer" their suppression of pornographic literature, to begin at
Court suit 11 o'clock the next day, January 10th, stating that Standard Accident
Insurance Company may help the Village.
The meeting~ was adjourned by acclamation at 9:60 P.M.
