Insurance R E P 0 R T
December 27, 1951
To: Board of Trustees
From: Finance Committee
Re: VTLT.~GE INSURANCE
The Citizens Insurance Committee working in cenJur~ion with the Village
Treasurer and the Village Manager have completed the specifications for
village insurance for the fiscal year starting May 1, 1952. These
specifications represent many hours of study by experts in the various
fields of insu.rance, and as a result promises the very finest village
insurance program for the coming' year.
The time has now come to~ seek the economies and other benefits which
generally result from competitive bidding. It is the Finance Committee,s
recommendation that the Board approve the following procedures for
inviting such bids:
1. That there be a direct mailing of the insurance
specifications together with a covering letter to
all insurance agents in the Village of Mount Prospect.
Such a list of agents has been taken from the
Manual published by the ~ational Insurance gnder~riters.
2. That there be a direct mailing, of the insurance speci-
fications and a covering letter to selected insurance
companies and agents in downtown Chicago. The
eovering letter to insurance companies will suggest --
that they select the agent who will process the bid.
As a note of information, one of the selected companies
is the St. Paul Fire & Marine Co., which owns all of -
the outstanding Mt. Prospect Water Revenue Bonds of 1949.
It was felt that such invitation added the element of
. c~urtesy to t~e existing soundness of company selection.
3. That at least two notices will be placed in both local
newspapers which will call attention to the invitation
to bid and will advise that the insurance specifications
can be obtained at the Village Hall upon request.
December 27, 1961
he direct mailing 'is scheduled for January-15, 1962. The new~paper
notieea will appear some t~me between January 15, 1962 and February B,
1952. Instructions to bidders will. request that bids be received in the
Village Manager's office no later than 5:00 P.M. on February 27, 1962.
Such bids will be opened at 8:00 P.M. daring the regular Board meeting
on February 27, 1962.
The bide will be recorded in the Village records and then referred to
the Citizens Insurance Committee, who will work in conjunction with the
Village ~anager and the Village Treasurer to formulate their joint recom-
mendations by April 2, 1962.
The report of recommendations, together with the bids, will be on file
in the Village Clerk's office from April 3, 1962 through April 9, 1962
and may be examined by any person requesting such information. This
will provide a period of time to clear up questions or complaints by
bidders before Board action.

in regard to Village insurance as o~tlined above be approved by the Board.

as follows:
t.etter from
Hr. Clarence O. Schlaver citizen
Village of Hount Prospect
Dear Mr. Schlaver:
This letter is a bit late, but I do want to let you and the other members
of the Village Board knew how ~nch Mrs. Stewart and Y appreciate the things
you are doing for the betterment of the community. We are especially pleased
with the amended contract effected with Barrington Trucking Company for
increased garbage and rubbish removal from the homes in Mount Prospect.
This was a rea accomplishment.
Ours is a fine community and it means much to we homeowners to know our
village officers are striving to make Mount Prospect an even better place
in which to live and raise our families. Unfortunately we are inclined to
accept the good things without making our appreciation known - - therefore
this letter.
We want also to express our thanks to the men in the Street Department for
the following: On Saturday last, we phoned ~is department to report that
our street was in a very dangerous condition due to icing. In a matter of
about thirty minutes their truck appeared and spread aalt over the street
to alleviate the serious condition reported. Their courtesy and service in
handling ~ call is certainly to be commended.
~/ith every good wish for a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous
New Year for all, ~ remain
Very truly yours,
R. L. Stewart
