HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/01/1949 VB minutes 109 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL MOUNT PROSPECT, IL:LINOIS ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 1949 The meeting wPS called to order by Fresident Pendleton et P:00 r. rj. The Clerk called the roll and the following Trustees resronded: Bayne, Budai, Hartwig, Lams, Mott, and Welsh. A motion was made by Trustee Welsh, seconded by Hartwig, that the regular order of business be tem- porarily susrended and the reeding of the minutes of �.. the Previous meeting* be deferred at this time so thPt the bids on the r.rorosed number 4 well could be received. The motion was voted uron by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. The motion was then made by Trustee Bvdal, seconded by Hartwig, that the Clerk be authori7ed to oven and read all bids received on the prorosed number 4 well. The motion was voted uron by acclamation, where- upon the President declared the motion carried and the Clerk so instructed. A motion was made by Trustee Bayne, secorded ivv Lams, that the Clerk be irstructed to return the certified check in the amount of Twenty -Seven Hundred Dollers to the Layne Western Co. es their hid wes rot received. The motion was voted uron by ecclemation, The Clerk then read the minutes of the rernlar meetinv of January 11th. A motion wes made by Trustee Hartwip, secorded by Lams, that the minutes be arrroved es reed. The motion was made bv Trustee Bayne, seconded her Lams, that the Clerk be instructed to write a letter to Mr. Henry Knosr et 20 S. Louis St. eceertirr on behalf of the ci ti tens , the donation of a piano for the CommuritY Room, in the Municipal. Buildirp. A "RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SFLCIFICATIONS FOR SEWERACE IMIROIVMENTS" No 1 -49 wes then r.esd. A motion was made by Trustee Lams, seconded by Bvdel that the resolution be edorted. The President rut the nuestion and the Clerk celled the roll with the fol lowi_r,P results: Aves: All; Nays: None. Thereuron the President declared the motion carried nrd said resolution edorted. A motion was then made by Trustee Lams, seconded by Hartwig, that the President of the Board of Trustees be authorized to execute and sign Federal Works Agency BCF Form 5 (Report of completed plan preparation for which federal funds were advanced) The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. The Clerk then read a letter, dated January 17, 1949, from Mr. Don C. Shafer regarding the Superior Home Builders field office. -_ A motion was made by Trustee Bayne, seconded by Lams, that the Village Clerk be instructed to write • to Superior Home Builders advising them that their tem- porary structure perm t has expired and renuesting re- moval of the structure within ten days. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried and Clerk so instructed. The Clerk then read an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE R OUIRING IA MIS S AND REFLECTORS ON BICYCLES': A motion was made by Trustee Lams, seconded by Bayne, that the ordinance be passed. The President put the ouestion and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays: None. F ebruar y 1, 1949 Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and 111 said ordinance passed and approved. After a thorough discussion regarding the Safety Committee's recommendation to increase the Police force to four officers a motion was made by Trustee Lams, seconded by Bayne, to arrange for the services of a fourth Police Officer as soon as possible at a salary not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars (e200) per month. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: A11; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried. ,,, A motion was then made by Trustee Mott, seconded by Oelsh, to authorize the Village Treasurer to pay out the sum of Four Thousand One Hundred and Sixty Dollars ($4,160.00)Nrepresentinp principal and accrued interest on the 4kWater Revenue Bonds still outstanding and to secure such bonds for cancellation. The President put the cuestion and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: A11; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and Treasurer so instructed. The motion was then made by Trustee Hartwig, seconded by Bydal, that the meeting be adjourned.
