MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES, HELD IN THE MINICIPAL
BUILDING, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS
ON TUESDAY, MAY 10, 1949.
The meeting was called to order by President
Pendleton at 8 :25 P.M. and the Clerk was then directed
to call the roll. Upon the roll being called the follow-
ing Trustees answered "Present ": Bayne, Bydal, Hartwig,
Lams, Mott and Stoelk.
The Clerk then read the minutes of the two
regular meetings held on May 3, 1949. A motion was made
by Trustee Bayne, seconded by Lams, that the minutes be
approved as read. The President put the question and the
Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes:
All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the
motion carried and said minutes approved.
The Treasurer's report for the period ending
April 30, 1949 was then read. A motion was made by
Trustee Mott, seconded by Bydal, that the Treasurer's
report be approved as read and placed on file. The
President put the question and the Clerk called the
roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays :None.
Thereupon the President declared the motion carried
and report approved.
The motion was then made by Trustee Hartwig,
seconded by Mott, that the Special Assessments report
be placed on file. The motion was voted upon by accla-
mation whereupon the President declared the motion
carried.

The Clerk then read a letter, dated May 8th,
from the American Legion Auxiliary requesting permission
to sell poppies in -Mount Prospect on Friday, May 27th.
A motion was made by Trustee Lams, seconded by
Hartwig, that permission be granted as requested. The
motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Presi-
dent declared the motion carried.
The motion was made by Trustee Mott, seconded
by Lams, that the bills as approved by the finance com-
mittee be approved for payment. The President put the
nuestion and the Clerk called the roll with the follow-
ing response: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the
President declared the motion carried and bills approved
for payment.

A letter dated May 10th, from Mr. Gilbert I.
Liebenow regarding placing of stop signs at Gregory and
Main Streets was then read and referred to the Safety
Committee.
The Clerk then read an ordinance No. 308
entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER III OF THE
MOUNT PROSPECT BUILDING CODE OF 1938." A motion was
made by Trustee Bayne, seconded by Lams, that the
ordinance be passed. The President put the question and
the Clerk called the roll with the following results:
Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared
the motion carried and said ordinance passed and approved.
A petition dated May 10th, signed by one hundred
eighteen (118) residents of Lonnquist Gardens Sub - division,
regarding the development of Sunset Park was read and re-
ferred to the Parks Committee.
The motion wes made by Trustee Bydal, seconded
by Stoelk that in accordance with the amended water
ordinance the X5.00 deposit be refunded to consumers as ,,,
listed by Water Rate Collector, April 30, 1949. The
President put the question and the Clerk called the roll
with the following response: Ayes: All; Nays: None.
Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and
said deposits to be refunded.
A motion was then made by Trustee Bydal, second-
ed by Hartwig, to authorize the expenditure of a sum not
to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for the running of
a water line to the water fountain to be placed in the
Lorraine Alton Memorial Park. The President put the question
and the Clerk called the roll with the following results:
Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared
the motion carried.
A "RESOLUTION TO FORECLOSE THE LIEN OF SPECIAL
ASSESSMENTS" No. 6 -49 was then read.
The motion was made by Trustee Bayne, seconded
by Lams that the resolution be adopted. The President
put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the
following response: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the
President declared the motion carried and said resolution
passed and approved.
The Clerk then read in full an ordinance, No.309,
entitled "AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO THE ILLINOIS BELL
TELEPHONE COMPANY, ITS LESSEES, SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS,
CERTAIN RIGHTS IN THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS."
The motion was made by Trustee Bayne, seconded
by Mott, that the ordinance be passed with section one
to show 25 years as period covered and section six to
grant sixteen free individual line business telephones.

the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays:
None. Thereupon the President declared the motion
carried and said ordinance passed and approved.
A letter, dated May 5th, from Jewel Tea Co.,
Inc. regarding business license was then read.
A motion was made by Trustee Hartwig, second-
ed by Lams, that a further six months extension of time,
to November 6, 1949, for completion of improvements in
Moehling's Pleasant -Dale Subdivision be granted. The
motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the
President declared the motion carried.
There being no further business to come be-
* fore the meeting a motion was made by Trustee Mott,
seconded by Hartwig, that the meeting be adjourned.
The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon
the President declared the motion carried and the
meeting regularly adjourned.
