LINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES, HELD IN THE MUNICIPAL
BUILDING, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS
ON TUESDAY, JULY 19, 1949
The meeting was called to order by Presi-
dent Pendleton at 8:05 P.M. and the Clerk was then
directed to call the roll. Upon the roll being called
the following Trustees answered "present ": Bayne,
Bydal, Hartwig, Lams, and Mott. Trustee 5toelk was absent.

The Clerk then lead the following communication:
July 15, 1949

Gentlemen:
You are hereby notified that at the regular
meeting of the P resident and Board of Trustees
held on Tuesdav, July 12, 1949 a motion was duly 04%
made and carried calling a special meeting for
Tuesday, July 19, 1949 at 8:00 P.M.
The purpose of this meeting is to consider
the request of the Library Board to issue bonds in
the amount of 435,000 for payment of cost of con-
structing new Library Building and furnishing equip-
ment therefore and to act on ordinances to issue
bonds and calling special election in connection
with the construction of Library Building and
furnishing equipment therefore and to consider
any other business that mail lawfully come before
the board.

Gentlemen:
Pursuant to direction of the Board of Library
Directors of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook
County, Illinois, I transmit herewith the record of
proceedings and plans and specifications relative
to the construction of the new library building end
providing for the equipment thereof together with
the determination that it will take 20 years to
pay for the cost of this construction end equipment
end request that bonds be issued, payable in 20
years at interest rate not to exceed 0.
Your approval of this request will be appreciated.

The Clerk then read Library Board resolutions
entitled: "RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS ,•
OF LIBRARY BUILDING AND EQUIPMENT" and "RESOLUTION
DETERMINING THE TERM OF YEARS OVER WHICH TO SPREAD THE
COLLECTION OF THE COST OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE LIBRARY
BUILDING AND EQUIPMENT THEREFOR AND REQU.STING THE VIL-
LAGE BOARD TO ISSUE BONDS IN PAYMENT OF SAID COST,"
The Clerk then read certificates from the
Secretary of Library Board covering record of proceed-
ings of meetings held July 5, 1949 and July 16, 1949.

The Clerk then read a "RESOLUTION APPROVING 139
THE PROPOSAL OF THE BOARD OF LIBRARY DIRECTORS OF THE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A
LIBRARY BUILDING AND PROVIDING FURNISHINGS AND
EQUIPMENT THEREFOR" (No. 9 -49.)
A motion was made by Trustee Mott, seconded by
Bydal, that the resolution be adopted. The President
put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the
following results: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon
the President declared the motion carried and the
resolution passed and aprroved.
The Clerk then read the "Annual Report of
the Mount Prospect Public Library for the Year End -
ing April :'0, 1949."
The motion was then made by Trustee Lams,
seconded by Bayne, that the report be accepted as read
and placed on file. The motion was voted upon by ac-
clamation, whereupon the President declared the
motion carried.
The Clerk then read a letter from the Pala-
tine Firemen, reauesting permission to tour the Village
with their raffle car equipt with a Public Address
system. The Clerk was instructed to write the Palatine
Firemen granting permission to bring the car into
t" Mount Prospect provided the sound system is not used.
A letter from the St. Paul Federal Savings
& Loan Association of Chicago, dated July 15, stating
that they have entirely completed and exhausted the
funds in their Mount Prospect Project was then read.
The letter was placed on file Lonnquist Subdivision.
The Clerk then read a letter, dated July 13,
from Mr. Gilbert I. Liebenow, regarding itinerant
merchants in Mount Prospect. The Clerk was directed
to send copy of the letter to Lr. VanDriel, President
of the Yount 1 rospect Chamber of Commerce.
There being no further business to come
before the meeting a motion was made by :Trustee Lams,
seconded by Hartwig, that the meeting be adjourned.
The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon
the 1resident declared the motion carried and the
meeting regularly adjourned.
