HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/03/1950 VB minutes / MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD IN THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3, 1950 The meeting was called to order by President Pendleton at 8:20 P.M. and the Clerk was then directed to call the roll. On roll call the following Trustees Answered "Present:" Bayne, Bydal, Hartwig, Lams, Mott, and Walker. The Clerk then read the minutes of the regular meeting held September 12, 1950. A motion was made by Trustee Lams, seconded by Bayne, that the minutes be approved as read. The Presi- dent nut the auestion and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and said minutes approved. The Clerk then read a letter, dated September 29, 1950 from the Village Engineers giving analyses of water samrles taken from N 4 well. October 3, 1950 208 The Clerk then read a letter, dated. September 25, 1950, from the Hillcrest Property Owners Association setting forth a plan for financing the proposed public benefit levy for partial costs of proposed paving in that area. The letter was referred to the Judiciary Committee for their study. Ordinance No 330 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS IN CONNECTION WITH BUILDING PERMIT TO CONSTRUCT BUILDINGS" was then read. A motion was made by Trustee rYalker, seconded by Hartwig, that the Ordinance be passed. The President oft put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and said ordinance passed and approved. Ordinance No. 331 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 32 AND 33 OF CHAPTER, III OF THE MOUNT PROSPECT BUILDING CODE OF 1938" was then read. The motion was made by Trustee Walker, seconded by Bayne, that the ordinance be passed. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following response: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and said ordinance passed and approved. A motion was then made by Trustee Bayne, seconded by Bvdel to sustain President Pendleton's veto of Ordinance No. 325 which was passed at the regu- lar meeting held August 1, 1950. The President put the nuestion and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the Presi- dent declared the motion carried. Ordinance No 372 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE ""'* PROVIDING FOR THE REGISTRATION OF SOLICITORS," was then read. A motion was made by Trustee Bayne, seconded by Hartwig, that the ordinance be passed. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays: Nr,ne. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and said ordinance passed and approved. The Clerk then read the following letter: Mt. Prospect, I11 Oct. 2, 1950 President and Board of Trustees Village of Mt. Prospect, Mt. Prospect, I11 Gentlemen: The Mt. Prospect Public Library has now been completed and waivers have been signed and re- ceived from all the contractors. There is still considerable work to be done. Walks, landscaping, additional book shelves in the stock rooms, and many chairs, tables, desks, etc, will be renuired to make the library operate efficiently. We would appreciate it if you rlease could refund the building permit fee, so that this money may be used for the library furniture, badly needed at this time. The President put the cruestion and the Clerk called the roll with the following response: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President de- clared the motion carried. The Clerk then read a petition, signed by 55 residents, regarding proposed rezoning of lots 6 to 15 in Block 24, Prospect Manor Subdivision. The petition was referred to the Judiciary Committee. The Clerk then read summons No. 50CR440 from Circuit Court of Cook County. A motion was made by Trustee Bayne, seconded by Walker, that the Village Attorney be authorized to file an arrearance on behalf of the Village. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. A letter, dated September. 28, from L.R. Murphy Superintendent of Public Schools, thanking the Village Board for various services rendered by employees was then read. The motion was made by Trustee Bayne, seconded by Hartwig, to reccommend to Board of Local Improvements that it take steps as are necessary to spread of record a. special assessment for the purpose of obtaining funds to pay cost of paving various streets in Hillcrest Subdivision. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. A motion was then .Made by Trustee Hartwig, seconded by Walker, to authorize the expenditure of a sum not to exceed 4500.00 for grading of certain streets in Hillcrest Subdivision as designated by Chairman of Street Committee; tris action without prejudice and without any liability on the part of the Village to the extent that doing such work does not constitute an acceptance of said streets. The President put the e.uestion and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried. The Clerk then read e letter, dated September 21, from Rand Building Corporation claiming liens against lots 108 to 111 inclusive, and 113 to 117 inclusive, in H. Roy Berry Company's Castle Heights subdivision, for costs incurred in laying sewer and water facilities past this property. The Clerk, was instructed to acknow- ledge receipt of the letter and place same on file. There being no further business to come before the meeting a motion was made by Trustee Lams, seconded by Mott, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried and the meeting regularly adjourned.
