HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/06/1951 VB minutes 227 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUS TEES , HELD IN THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS ON TUESDAY, MARCH 6, 1951 The meeting was celled to order by President Pendleton at 8:15 P.M. and the Clerk was then directed to call the roll. On roll call the following Trustees answered "Present ": Bayne, Bydal, Lams, Mott and walker. Trustee Hartwig was absent. The Clerk then read the minutes of the regular meeting held February 13th. It motion was made by jrustee Bayne, seconded by Lams, that the minutes be approved as read. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion ,..,, carried and said minutes approved. The following letter was then read: FRANK M. OPEKA March 5th, 1951 Mr. Robert Bayne Chairman, Judiciary Committee Village Hall, Mount Prospect, Illinois Dear Mr. Bayne: Re: Himel vs. Village of Mount Prospect, et al March 6, 1951 22 S. The motion to dismiss filed by the Village came up for hearing before Judge Epstein on February 28th. The other attorneys also had motions to dismiss and for the purpose of the argument, the motions.were consolidated, with each Attorney having an opportunity to present their grounds for dismissal of the suit. The hearing .lasted for 2 1/2 hours. At the conclusion thereof the Court entered an order that the matter be continued generally, with the object in view that each defendant do something to correct the situation. Accordingly, this matter is going to remain in status ouo for some time to come. Very truly yours, (signed) Frank M. Opeka The Clerk then read the following letter. FRANK M. OPEKA March 5th, 1951 Mr. Robert Bayne, Chairman, Judiciary Committee, Village Hall, Mount Prospect, Illinois Dear Mr. Bayne: At the request of the Village Board I attended the Dlinois Commerce Commission hearing on February 14th when the matter came up in connection with the Bell Telephone Company. At that time I filed the appearance of the Village. Some technical questions arose in connection with the County of Cook, and therefore the hear- ing was continued to April 4th, 1951 Very truly yours, (signed )Frank M. Opeka The Clerk then read Summons No. 5101547, Circuit Court of Cook County. The motion was made by Trustee Bayne, seconded by Bydal, that the Village Attorney be authorized to file an appearance on behalf of the Village. The motion was voted upon by acclama- tion, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. The Clerk then read oummons No. 5101484 Circuit Court of Cook County. It motion was made by Trustee Mott, seconded by Lams, that the Village Attorney be authorized to file an appearance on behalf of the Village. The motion was voted upon by acclama- tion, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. A memo, dated March 5, 1951, from Arthur H. Lewis regarding test run on reassembled Pump for No. 4 well was read and placed on file. The Clerk then rend "RESOLUTION NO. 5 -51 "I. E. BESANDER - MEMORIAL". The motion was they made by Trustee Lams, seconded by Bayne, that the resolu- .■, tion be adopted. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried and said resolution Adopted. President Pendleton, acting as Liquor Control Commissioner, then presented his order "In The Matter of the Complaint to Revoke the License of U.C. Hopper ", said order revoking the license. The motion was then made by `trustee Bayne, seconded by Talker, that the findings of the Liquor Control Commissioner in the 0.C. Hopper case be in- corporated in the Village records. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. March -Eal ruarij 6 , 1951 A letter, dated February 16, from Anne K. 229 Hubler, Principal of Lincoln School, thanking the Village for their assistance was then read. The Clerk then red a letter, dated January 11, suggestions :for consideration by the Village number of from Mr. Clarence E. Naumann, regarding a num Board of Trustees. The Clerk was instructed to acknowledge the letter. There being no further business to come before the meeting., e motion was made by Trustee Mott, seconded by Lams, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted unor by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried and the meetirR repnlarly ad iourned. �/,/
