HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/01/1951 VB minutes 237 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE 1RESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD IN THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS ON TUESDAY, MAY 1, 1951 The meeting was called to order by President Pendleton at 8:10 P.M. and the Clerk was then directed to call the roll. On roll call the following Trustees answered "Present ": Bayne, Bydal, Hartwig, Lams, Mott and Walker; "Absent ": None. The Clerk then read the minutes of the regu- "" '" lar meeting of April 10. A motion was made by Trustee Bydal, seconded by Mott, that the minutes be approved as read. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following response: Ayes: all; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and said minutes approved. The Clerk then read the minutes of the special meeting, held April 17, 1951. A motion was made by Trustee Mott, seconded by Walker, that the minutes be approved as read. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President de- clared the motion carried and said minutes approved. A letter dated April 18, 1981 from S.B. Geiger and Company regarding the guarantee on equipment for No. 4 well was then read. This letter was referred to the Fire and eater Committee. A motion was made by Trustee Hartwig, seconded by Bayne, that the meeting be adjourned Sine Die. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned. The meeting was called to order by President Pendleton at 8:30 P.M. and the Clerk was then directed to call the roll. Upon roll call the following Trustees answered "Present ": Bayne, Brown, Goodling, Hartwig, Ibbotson and Lams. Absent: None. Hinz Building Commissioner; Mr. Albert Schock Fire Commissioner; Mr. Frank Biermann Village Attorney; Mr. Frank Opeka Village Engineers; Consoer,Townsend & Associates Police Officers; Messrs. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays: idone., Thereupon the President declared the motion carried. The following communication was then read; Mty 1, 1951 Honorable Members Board of Trustees Village of Mount Prospect Mt. Prospect, Illinois Gentlemen: In order to conduct the affairs of this Board in an orderly and efficient manner, I take pleasure in making the following committee appointments. The first named trustee under each department will act as Chairman of that committee. Finance, Public Buildings and Grounds: Trustees Lams, Bayne and Goodling Judiciary; Trustees Bayne, Brown and Lams Streets & Sidewalks; Trustees Hartwig, Brown ,..� and Ibbotson. Building: Trustees Ibbotson, Hartwig and Goodling Fire & Water; Trustees Goodling, Bayne and Ibbotson Police & Light, - Public) Trustees Brown Lams and Health and Safety ) Hartwig. Prospect May 1, 1951 239 The motion was then made by Trustee Hartwig seconded by Bayne, that the appointments be concurred in. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the }resident declared the motion carried. The Clerk then read the following letter: April 30, 1951 Honorable }resident of the Village Board Mount Irospect, Illinois Dear Sir: On April 20, 1951 I orally tendered my resigna- tion to you as rater works Superintendent for the Village of Mt. ibtes Please accept this letter as my official resigna- tion as of this date, April 30, 1951. 1 shall endeavor to instruct Mr. Richard Baum, my successor with all of his duties. My, last working day shall be May 5, 1951. I have completed five years of service in the Water Department and hope my work has been satisfactory to you and the residents of Mount Prospect. Peterson Water Superintendent The Clerk then read a letter dated April 24 ►� from the American Legion Auxiliary requesting permission to hold Poppy Day in Mount Prospect on Friday, May 25. The request was held over until the May 8th meeting. The following* letter was then read: April 30, 1951 The President Board of Trustees Mt. Prospect, Illinois Dear Sir: The Volunteers of America, a religious and charitable organization founded in 1896, makes regular calls at homes in your village for the purpose of solicitingaid in carrying on its work. The aid is usually in the form of cast -off clothing furniture, household utensils and magazines and paper. Your honorable body can facilitate this work by the 'ranting of a permit and in turn we will notify your police department when our repre- sentatives will be in your vicinity. Kelly The Volunteers of America A motion was then made by Trustee Lams, seconded by Bayne, that the Clerk be instructed to answer the le/.ter granting permission to the Volunteers of America to solicite in Mount Prospect and informing them that a permit will not be necessary but that the members of the organization will be recuired to register with the Mount Prospect Police Department whenever they are in Mount Prospect, to make house -to -house calls. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the .motion carried. The motion was made by Trustee Hartwig, seconded by Bayne, that the Village Clerk be instructed to write the States Attorney, Cook County, regarding previous correspondence by the Mount Prospect Police Department with the State Highway Department regarding speed limit signs on Northwest Highway at the entrance of the Village. May 1, 1951 240 he States Attorney's office should be further advised that inasmuch as the State Highway Department refused to post speed limit signs at 30 mph, the Mount Prospect Police Department will strictly enforce a 45 mph limit if and when the 45 mph signs are placed by the state. The motion was voted upon by acclamation where uron the President declared the motion carried. The motion was made by Trustee Bayne, seconded by Ibbotson, authorizing and instructinp the Clerk to advertise for bids returnable at 8:00 P.M. on June 5, 1951, on the necessary work for the inter - connecting of the Northwest Highway traffic lights with the crossing gates at Emerson Street. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the .■w following results: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried. wog There being no further business to come before the meeting, a motion was made by Trustee Hartwig, seconded by Lams, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclyma- tion, whereupon the Fresident declared the motion carried and meeting regularly adjourned. ..- / .
