tate of Mr. David Kirkeby of. the Businessman's Association
Illinois introduced Mr. Peter Sonnanfeld of the State of Illinois Board
of Economic Development, who explained the requirements for
federal aid for renewal of urban areas, and left brochures
giving details cf the 701 Planning Assistance, which requires
that one-third of the cost be borne by the municipality.
Trustee Bergen read letter from Mr. Ralph E. Adams
fence of ll01 West Lincoln asking for 7-foot fence on The lot line
because cf slope of property. Trustee Bergen at this time
recommended not granting The variation, but The matter was
left in committee for another week.
Bldg. Trustee Busse gave suggestions which were taken i~zo
Dept. consideration by The Building Committee: That buildingscon-
s~ructed only of masonry be.permitted in industrial zones, and
That a certain percentage of area in front of indus~ial buildings
be required to be landscaped.
Fireman's Pension Trustee Bruhl, seconded by T~ustee Busse, moved to
Police Pension accept the annual Firements Pension Fund report and Police Pen-
sion Fund report pending audi~. This motion carried by accla-
mmtion. (See following page)
Trustee Bruhl again brongh: up Mr. hehnhardt's request
Street Dept. for re-sodding of parkway around ST. John, s Episcopal Church,
Water Dept. recommending that future contracts for replacement of mains call for
re-sodding. Trustee Casterlinestated he would favor re-sodding
in This particula~ instance on The basis of the fact that this
church, on a main stl"eet, is a quasi-public facility.
Trustee BruhlD seconded by Trustee PHillips, moved that St. John's
Chu='ch be authorized to have The area re-sodded and to send the
bill To The Village.

Fire Dept. T~ustee Phillips read Articles of Agreement between The
Village and the Mount Prospect Rural Fire P~oTection District of
Wheeling Township, copy of which is included with these minutes.

President and Clerk.

ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT
ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT made and entered into this 6th day of
May, 1964 by and between the Mount Prospect Rural Fire Pro-
tection Distridt, a MunicipalCorporation, Wheeling Township,
Cook County, Illinois, (hereinafter referred To as "said
District") and the Village of Mount Prospect, a Municipal
Corporation, Mount Prospect, Illinois, (hereinafter referred
To as "said Village"); and
WHEREAS, the said District is a municipal eorp-
potation organized under the statutes of the STate of Illinois
for the purpose of prevention and control of fires in an area
shown on Exhibit A attached hereto and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is a
municipal corporation organized under the statutes of the
State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, said District and the Village. are desirous
of entering into a contract for the furnishi~ of fire fight-
ing and fire prevention services To the territory outlined
in red on Exhibit A attached, which territory constitutes the
whole of the area to be serviced by said district. Said con-
tract To cover a perio~ oom~en~ing January 1, 196~ and ending
July 1, A. D. 1964, it bein~ understood that for reasons of
fairness toward the tax payers of said Village and. the tax
payers of said District, the arrangements herein provided should
have retroactive to January 1, 1964.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS AGREED AND UNDERSTOOD by
and between the parties hereto:
A~TICLE ~. Thatfor the period beginning Jan-
uary 1, 196~~ring on midnight July 1, A. D. 1964, the
Village shall furnish fire ~ighting and fire protection servi-
ces by Paid on Call and Regular firemen employed by the Vil-
lage as the Fire Chief of the Village may determine, to said
District for the area outlined in red on Exhibit ~ attached
(which territory constitutes the whole territory to be served
by said District
ARTICLE ZI That for the period of time during
which this contract shall be in full force and effect said
District agrees to pay said Village for any and all fire
fighting and fire protection services the sum of Five Thou-
sand Dollars ($5,000.00) pa3mlent of which shall be made as
follows:

enter into negotiations for a new
contract to be concluded not later
than July 1, 1964.
ARTICLE III That the Fire Chief of the Vil-
lage of Mount Prospect shall have sole and exclusive right
and responsibility to prescribe the manner and method of
iving the alarm for fire or other emergency in the territory
to he served hy said village.
ARTICLE IV The Fire Chief designated hy said
Village shall immediately upon arriving at the scene of any
alarm or emergency, or such other officers as may he desig-
nated by said Fire Chief, frc~ time ~o time, have the sole
and exclusive responsibility and authority to direct and
control any and all fire fighting and/or fire prevention
activities and emergency operations at such scene or scenes,
and further, that any and all officers and/or flr~en
appointed by said District shall be s~bjec~ to to orders of
the Fire Chief designated by said Village.
ARTICLE V That all fire fighting and fire pre-
vention activi~es carried on under the provisions of these
Articles shall be under and in accordance with the regulations
and ordinances of said Village.
ARTICLE VI That all expenses of maintaining
equipment, apparatus, salaries, insurance premiums, and
mny and all other items of expense connected with the
services to be performed by said Village under this agreement shal
shall be aT the Village's expense and that the only expense
falling upon said District should be to the payments set forth
in Article II.
ARTICLE VIII That all equipment presently owned
or possessed by said District, or any and all equipment To be
acquired by said District, shall be leased to the Village for
the sums of $1.00 for the period of this contract.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have caused
these Articles ~o be executed by their respective officers
and caused their corporate seals to be affixed hereunto.
These articles have been executed on behalf of the
said Village pursuant to adoption thereof by a ~es~lution of
the Board of Trustees of said Village on 12th day of May,
