BOARD OF TRUSTEES
President Schlaver called the meeting to order at
8:15 P.M. with the following trustees present: Poll call
Bergen Bruhl Casterline Ekren Phillips
Absent: Busse, who arrived later.

for payment of the following bills: bills

T~ustee Ek~en, seconded by T~ustee Casterline, moved to Fire House
canvass the results of referendum held Februa~F 8th for bond issue RefePendum
to build second fire house, equipment for fire house, and public
woPks building.

Motion carried.
Trustee Busse arrived at 8:45 P.M.
The Board thereupon canvassed the returns of the referendum, and
Trustee Ekuen, seconded by T~ustee Busse, moved for adoption of
Res. 4-64: Res. ~-6~

Trustee Ekren informed the Board that Complaint for Naberkamp vs
Declaratory Judgement, Edwin & Irene Naberkamp vs Village (64-L-1877) Village
had been filed (see ZoninE Case 63-22) and that Attorney Hofert had 64-L-1877
disqualified himself because of personal friendship with the com-
plainant. President Schlaver referred the question of hiring of at-
torney to represent the Village in this case Go the Judiciary Com-

Traffic Mrs. Snyde~ of Sunset School PTA arose to urge the Board to
request permission from the State Highway Department to erect
some kind of school crossing signal across Hwy. 83 at Lonn-
quist; the Board also mentioned need for similar sign,at Hwy.
83 at Gregory.
T~ustee Casterline, seconded b~ Trustee Busse, moved
to add the following to the MFT program:
MFT
1964 Prospect Manor, Walnut to Gregory and Memory Lane to
Highland Avenue. Correct drainage faults in gutter and surface
with 1-11 surfacing.
Prospect Avenue, east side of Maple Street westerly ,..
approximately 300 feet, or to end of present curb, install curb
and gutter and widen pavement to the north approximately 10 feet.
Busse Avenue, between Emerson Street and Main Street;
widen the pavement at the east end of the block to 46 feet the
same as it is at the west end of the block.
Emerson Street, Busse Avenue to Central Road. Widen
the pavement to 48 feet. the same as in the block between Nor~h-
west Highway and Busse Avenue and resurface the entire sXreet
with 1-11 surfacing.

Motion carried.
Colonial Heights Mr. Appleby informedthe Board he had received proposed
8th Add'n + plat of Colonial Heights 9th Addition and final plat of Colonial
9th Add'n Heights 8th Addition. These were referred to the Plan Commission.
President Schlaver read the following letter from H. G.
Health Appleby:
After careful consideration of the applicants for the
position of health inspector, I recommend the appointment of Mrs.
Florence Smith of 705 N. Forest Avenue, Mount P~ospect, at a rate
of $2.80 per hour including automobile.
Mrs. Smith is a registered nurse, has a B.S. Degree in
nursing administration and training and was also licensed as a
public health nurse before that act was repealed in 1981. She has
done general duty nursing in hospitals and served as the first
school nurse in Des Plaines from 1950 to t955, and is reported to
have done a splendid job of organization.
She will be able to devote 18 hours a week or more to
health inspection work, and b~s expressed a desire to further her
knowledge by help from the County Department and observation of
the health program in our neighboring communities and attending
s~minarso
Her references bear out the observation that she has
an outgoing personality, has a great deal of organizational
ability and is capable of accomplishing her purpose.
A copy of her application accompanies this letter.

The Board thereupon adjourned temporarily for discussion, resuming
thei~ seats at 10:S0 P.M.
.The Clerk called the roll, with every member still present.
P~esident $chlaver then recommended that Herman J.
Haenisch be appointed as Health Inspector.
Trustee Bruhl, seconded by T~ustee Phillips, moved to concur in
this recommendation, and moved that Herman J. Haenisch be ap-
pointed Health Inspector at the rate of $2.50 per hour.

Motion carried.
Trustee Casterline expressed his concern over the disregarding of
such a qualified candidate but nevertheless wished Mr. Haenisch
wello
President Schlaver asked the Board what date was de-
sired to meet with Mr. Harvey Klehm of the Weller Creek Drainage
District~ it was decided to use open meeting time from 9:00 P.M.
of February 25.
Attorney Hofert explained hiswithdrawal from the ~ase Attorney
of Haberkamp vs. Village, stating that he felt the Village was
entitled to an aggressive defense with every effort made to pre-
sent their case°
