TRUSTEES, HELD IN THE II:UNICIlAL
BUILDING, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS
TUESDAY, Fi, }3RUAllY 3, 1953
The meeting was called to order by 'resident
Pendleton at 6:05 F.M. and the Clerk was then directed
to gall the roll. On roll call the following Trustees
answered "Iresent:" Bayne, Lams, Lange, and d 'son.
Trustees Ibbotson and Viper were absent on roll call.
The Clerk then read the minutes of the rtepular
Meeting of January 13th. « motion was made by Trustee
Bayne, seconded by eiilson, that the minutes be approved
as read. The President put the question and the Clerk
called the roll with the following results: byes: A11; Nays;
None. Thereupon the I resident declared the motion carried.

2q A motion was me de by Trustee Lens, see ,e3—d
y Lenge, to accept the proposal dated January 26th, 1953
from Irwin A. Giemsoe, in the amount of five hundred en
forty-nine (549.00) covering cleening end painting of
the interior of the Municipt 1 Building as outlined. The
President put the question and the Clerk called the roll
with the following response: AlTes; All; Nuys: /Ione.
Thereupon the President declared the motion cerried.
Trustees Ibbotson and Viper arrived at 8:20 P.M.
end took their places.
A letter dated January 19th, from Mrs. Harold
Nelson of Chicago, Illinois, requesting permission to
extend water and sewer lines and permit to build a house
on unimproved property on S. Fine Street was then read.
The Clerk was instructed to wriiV- Frs. Nelson edvisinp
her of various reouirements to be met before such
permission could be granted.
The Clerk then read the following petition
signed by thirteen property owners:
We, the undersigned, being residents and taxpayers
of the Village of Mount Prospect find owning property
loceted on Maple Street, between Busse Avenue and
EvT"rppreen .avenue, and on Everpr.een avenue, between
Elm Street and Maple Street, in the Vii] ge of
Mount prospect, Illinois, hereby petition you to
the effect, that we do not went our property interests
jeopardized by any rezoning from the present residen-
tial zoning to any business zoning on Maple Street.
Dated at Mount Prospect, Illinois, this
22nd Day of December, 1952.

Gentlemen:
The 7oning Commission held a scheduled public
hearing on December 23, 1952, to hear a request to
re -+one from. R -1. to B the property at 1.17 So. maple
The petitioner arpeared and presented his reasons
for the requested re- zoning. There was n minority
sentiment to reinforce his reasons. Property owners
in the vicinity were emphatic In their objections to
any kind of business: Their presented e petition,
and we are attaching it to this letter.
Ater due consideration it is the opinion of
this Commission that the request represents an
unnecessery and undesirable encroachment of business
into an estebl.ished and well developed residential
area. le, therefore, recommend that the re- zoning
be not allowed.

Attorney E.A. Glaeser, presented Mr. Carroll's
case for the re- zoning, and other citizens presented
their arguments against the re- zoning.
The meeting was recessed at 8:55 1.L. and
re- convened at 9:25 P.M.
The motion was then made by Trustee Bayne,
seconded by Lams, that the Village Board concur in the
recomiendetion of the' Zoning Commission, to deny the
petition to re -zone prop er gat 11.? S. Merle Street from
R -1 classification to B classification. The iresident
rut the euestion and the Clerk celled the roll with
the following results: Ayes: Trustees: Bayne, Ibbotson,
Lams, Lange, end ail son. Nays: None. Passed: Trustee
Viper. Thereupon the President declared the r^otion
carried.
February 3, 1953
A motion was made by Trustee Bayne, seconded 321
by Wilson, that the Board of Trustees po on record with
the Zoni nr Board of Appeals of Cook County, objecti.np
to the prsnt'np of a variation In thy: County Zonine
covering the set -beck required fora Motel sign on
Rend Road, near the intersection of MacDonald Road, if
extended. The motion was voted upon by acclamation,
whereupon thy, I- resident declared the motion carried.
motion Wfas made by `.Trustee Lange, seconded
y Viper, that a . request be imde to the United Suites
Bureau of Census for new up -to -date census to be taken
for the Village. The President put the question and the
Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes:
all; Nays: None. Thereupon the I resident declared the
motion carried.
A motion was made by Trustee Viper, seconded
by Ibboteon, thet refunds of fifty dollars (4,50.00) each
be made to Bud's Villaize .service and Neal hardy, 716 $.
See -Gwun Avenue, for water taps that were paid for and
later found not needed. The Fresident put the question
and the Clerk called the roll with the following results:
Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the Fresident declared
the motion carried.
There being no further business to cone before
the meetinp, the motion was made by Trustee Viper, seconded
t by Isms, that the meeting be adjourned. The notion was
voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the Iresident declared
the motion carried and the meeting regularly adjourned.
