HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/02/1954 VB minutes " MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TUTEES, HELD IN THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 1951 The meeting was called to order by President February 2, 1954 386 Lams at 8 : 05 P.M. and the Clerk was then directed to call the roll. On roll call the following Trustees answered "Present :" Coutts, Hinrichs, Ibbotson, Lange, and Viger. Trustee Wilson was absent on roll call. The Clerk then read the minutes of the meeting held January 19, 1954. A motion was made by Trustee Lange, seconded by Coutts, that the minutes be approved as read. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried. A motion was made by Trustee Ibbotson, seconded by Lange, to authorize the Clerk to open the bids for the improvements of Evergreen Ave. and Council Trail, MFT ,,.,, Section 5 -CS. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the President declared the motion carried. The Clerk then opened and read the following bid as tabulated: AMOUNT TOTAL NAME WITH BID OR BOND BID Contracting & Material Co. *800.00 *7,398.10' Evanston, Ill. A motion was then made by Trustee Coutts, seconded by Hinrichs, that this bid be referred to the Street & Sidewalk Committee and to the Village Engineers for their study and report, and that the bid be placed on file in the Clerks Office for public inspection. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the President declared the motion carried. A motion was then made by Trustee Lange, seconded by Ibbotson, authorizing the Clerk to open the bids that were received covering _the installation of traffic control signals at Main d Central covered by MFT, Section 6 -CS. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. The Clerk then opened and read the following bids as tabulated: AMOUNT TOTAL NAME WITH BID OR BOND BID Wood Electrical Const., Inc. $645.00 $6,426.711. Chicago, I11. (As Corrected) L & S Construction Co. $745.00 $7,404.22 Chicago, I11. H -H Electric $$800.00 $6,754.50 Rivergrove, I11. (As Corrected) A motion was then made by Trustee Viger, seconded by Hinrichs, to refer these bids to the Street and Side- walk Committee and the Village Engineers for their study and report, and that the bids be filed in the Clerks Office for public inspection. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the President declared the motion carried. A petition was then presented, signed by 14 residents of the 500 block, North Fairview Ave., requesting exemption from building sidewalks. This petition was referred to the Street & Sidewalk Committee and to the Building Committee, for their study. Trustee Wilson arrived and took his place at 9:20 P.M. February 2, 1954 387 the Villago E A motion was then made by Trustee Lange, seconded by Coutts, that the Village Engineers be authorized to draw up a maintenance schedule on Village streets for 1954, as covered by Motor Fuel Tax Funds. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following response: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried. per+ A motion was then made by Trustee Lange, seconded by Viger,to authorize the hiring of Special Police on a trial basis to direct traffic at Busse and Main Streets, on Saturdays and days preceding holidays, from 10 :00 A.M. to 3 :00 P.M. The.President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following response: Ayes: Trustees Coutts, Hinrichs, Lange Se Viger. Nays: Trustees Ibbotson, & Wilson. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried. The Clerk then read a letter dated December 9, 1953, from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, regarding the installation of a burglar alarm system. t. This matter was referred to Trustee Lange for study by the Police Committee. s The following letters were then December 22, 1953 President and Board of Trustees Village Hall Mt. Prospect, II1. Gentlemen: We have examined Suburban Oil Company's Invoice "°" No. 3853, dated December 15, 1953, covering the construction of the water bound Macadam base in Maple Avenue for Munao Brothers, in the amount of 0,554.95, and find it to be an accurate representation of the work completed. We, therefore, recommend that this amount of money be dispersed from the escrow account established by Mr. Munao at your convenience. Very truly yours, Consoer, Townsend & Assoc. William W. Townsend December 24, 1953 President and Board of Trustees Village Hall Mt. Prospect, I11. Gentlemen: We have examined an invoice dated November 17, 1953 from August H. Skoglund Company which is for the construction of curb and gutter in Maple Avenue for Munao Brothers, Inc. We find that this invoice is an accurate representation of the work completed, and recommend that $5,093.30 be dispersed from the escrow account established by Munao Brothers, inc. at your convenience. Townsend A motion was then made by Trustee Wilson, seconded by Hinrichs that the Village Engineers recommendations regarding the disbursement of funds from the Escrow Account for Munao Brothers'be concurred in and that the amounts as *town on the foregoing .letters be disbursed. The President put the question, February 2, 1954 388 the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared - the motion carried, A motion was then made by Trustee Coutts, seconded by Viger, to approve house to house solicitation by Heart Fund Solicitors on Sunday Afternoon, February 28. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. The Clerk then read a petition dated January 26, 1954, from Fleetwood Homes Inc., requesting rezoning of Lots 18 and 19 in Maplewood Heights; also known as 900 E. Northwest Hwy. ; from present classification R -1 to B- Business. A motion was made by Trustee Hinrichs, seconded by 'r"'' Viger that this petition be referred to the Zoning Commission for the holding of a public hearing and their recommendations. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. Summons No. 54C871, Circuit Court of Cook County was then read. A motion was made by Trustee Hinrichs, seconded by Lange, to authorize the Village Attorney to file an appearance and answer. The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All; Naps: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried. The Clerk then read a petition dated February 1, 1954, from Arthur T. McIntosh & Co., requesting rezoning of Lots 19 and 20 in Block 8, in Northwest Meadows Subdivision, from present classification R -1 to B- Business. A motion was made by Trustee Hinrichs, seconded by Viger, to refer this petition to the Zoning Commission for the holding of a public hearing and their recommendations. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the President declared the motion carried. The Clerk then read a petition dated January 15, 1956 ..,, from Frank Skora and Edwina Skora, requesting the rezoning of Lot 13 on the West side of Wille Street, between Evergreen and Prospect Ave., from the presedt classification R -3 to a B- Business classification. A motion was made by Trustee Hinrichs, seconded by Viger that this petition be referred to the Zoning Commission for holding a public hearing and their recommendation. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. There being no further business to come before the meeting, a motion was made by Trustee Viger, seconded by Hinrichs, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried and the meeting regularly adjourned.
