No. 1-45
WHEREAS, there exists in the Village of Mount Prospect a large amount
of tax delinquency, thereby greatly reducing the percentage of tax collections
and increasing the difficulty of providing funds necessary for municipal pur-
poses; and,
WHEREAS, in many cases the amount of taxes and penalties accumulated are
disproportionate to the value of the property against which the taxes are out-
standing; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect has been
requested to signify its approval of an offer made to the County Board of Cook
County by the owner of improved property, for the settlement of delinquent taxes,
the said property being improved for a special use; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the best interests of the Village of Mount Prospect
that property be placed on a current tax paying basis,
BE IT, THEREFORE, RESOLVED, that the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Mount Prospect hereby recommend to the Board of County Commis-
sioners of Cook County that any bids on improved property in the Village of
Mount Prospect be refused unless such bids on such improved property are not
less than 60% of the principal amount of such taxes, excepting where the im-
provements on such property are for a special or single use and are commonly
known as single purpose improvements; in such case a bid of 40 of the unpaid
taxes should be accepted; that all property improved for residential use should
come under the first classification.
THIS RESOLUTION shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval.
