BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
MINUTES
May 3, 2010
Public Safety Building
Fire Department Conference Room
Chairman Busse called the meeting to order at 5:08 p.m.
Roll Call: George Busse, Chairman
Charles Bennett, Commissioner
James Powers, Commissioner
Michaele Skowron, Commissioner
Absent: Hank Friedrichs III, Commissioner
Also Present: Michael Figolah, Fire Chief
John Dahlberg, Police Chief
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Powers to accept the
minutes of the April 5, 2010, Open Meeting.
Voice Vote: Ayes: Busse, Powers, Skowron
Nays: None Abstain: Bennett Motion Carried
POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Dahlberg requested the Chairman's signature on three (3) letters addressed to candidates who are
no longer interested in a position with the police department. The Chief also wanted the Commission to
be aware of the fact that the Manager indicated there is insufficient funding to hire at this time; therefore,
it is not necessary to schedule oral interview dates, as there is one candidate left on the current Police
Officer Eligibility List II.
FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Figolah provided a brief update on staffing. There was a discussion regarding the grand opening of
the new fire station May 29
CLOSED SESSION
A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Skowron to go into
Closed Session under personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1) at 5:30 p.m.
Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Powers, Skowron
Nays: None Motion Carried
The Board returned to Open Session at 5:33 p.m. with everyone present.
OTHER BUSINESS
Commissioner Bennett asked for a brief update on the changes to the Board of Fire and Police
Commissioners Rules and Regulations (BOFPC). Chief Figolah reported the suggested changes are
being sent to the legal department for review and comment. The Fire Chief also made the Board aware
of a new change regarding military preference points for fire promotional testing. At the conclusion of the
discussion, the Board agreed to ask the attorney to attend a meeting to discuss the new change and the
BOFPC Rules and Regulations.

The next meeting will be held on June 7th at 6:00 p.m.
With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner
Powers to adjourn at 5:55 p.m.
