WILKS AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES FROM: VILLAGE MANAGER DATE: JUNE 4, 2010 SUBJECT: LIQUOR LICENSE REQUEST - CLASS F -2 PANZANO'S PIZZA, PASTA AND MORE, LLC 106 W. NORTHWEST HWY. On Thursday, June 2, 2010, the Village Manager met with Ms. Laoise O'Broin regarding her request for a new Class F -2 Liquor License for the above referenced address. The Class F -2 License provides for the sale of beer and wine at dining tables only. Ms. O'Broin is the owner and sole shareholder of the business. Ms. O'Broin is very knowledgeable in food service marketing and advertising and has studied culinary abroad in Ireland and Italy. Panzano's Pizza, Pasta and More is an Italian establishment specializing in a variety of organic pizzas, pasta dishes, salads and deserts. Previously this location operated as Tuccio's Restaurant. Ms. O'Broin is making cosmetic changes only to the interior of this location. The restaurant will be open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. serving lunch and dinner. She hopes to open for business in early July. The Village Manager also reviewed with Ms. O'Broin the Village's particular sensitivity to the sale of alcohol to minors as well as over service to intoxicated persons. The Village Manager informed her that she is responsible for the actions of all employees and that it was imperative to establish an appropriate training program as well as management oversight with regard to such sales. Ms. O'Broin indicated she had read the Village Code and understood all of the requirements. She has also successfully completed a certified liquor servers' training course. A completed application along with all fees and paperwork are on file with the Village Manager's office. Ms. O'Broin has also submitted to fingerprinting and background checks. Should the Village Board consider this application favorably the adoption of an Ordinance creating a new Class "F2" liquor license should be adopted. MEJ /dj ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS ACTING IN THE EXERCISE OF THEIR HOME RULE POWERS: SECTION ONE: That in accordance with Subsection A of Section 13.108 of Chapter 13 of the Village Code of Mount Prospect, as amended, the Corporate Authorities shall determine the number of Liquor Licenses available in each Classification and shall establish a list specifying the number of Liquor Licenses authorized. Said list is hereby amended by increasing the number of Class "F -2" Liquor License by One (1) PANZANO'S PIZZA, PASTA & MORE LLC d /b /a PANZANO'S PIZZA, PASTA & MORE 106 W. NORTHWEST HWY. Said list is as follows: Five (5) Class P -1 License Seven (7) Class P -2 Licenses Three (3) Class P -3 Licenses Zero (0) Class P -4 Licenses Zero (0) Class P -5 License Fourteen (14) Class F -1 License Seven (7) Class F -2 License Nineteen (19) Class F -3 License One (1) Class F -4 License Three (3) Class F -5 License Two (2) Class F -6 License Zero (0) Class S -1 License One (1) Class S -2 Licenses Two (2) Class S- 3Licenses One (1) Class S- 4License One (1) Class S -5 License (with conditions as attached to License) SECTION TWO: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
