and the program is going very well.
V. NEW BUSINESS
Community Connections Center
Carlos Huizar, the Community Connections Center Police Liaison, provided the commission with
information about his current duties and responsibilities at the center, local businesses and area schools.
CSO Huizar and the crime prevention unit are currently coordinating an Open Gym — Soccer "DROP IN"
Program. The Park District will be working with the crime prevention unit to mow the soccer fields on the
park district property in and around the Commonwealth Edison right -of -way. Carlos Huizar plans on
working with local businesses to solicit assistance in purchasing equipment for the soccer program.
Commission members then began a discussion as to how their intent to work with the community may be
channeled to either assisting with soliciting assistance for the soccer program or possibly soliciting for
assistance in finding donations to fund back to school supplies for local youths. Chairman Tolbert asked
the commission to look into possibly assisting Carlos Huizar with either the soccer program or back to

donations, as one of their basic goals is to work with and give back to the community. Chairman Tolbert
