self introductions.
Bill Masloske, Apple Ct. (Old Orchard Country Club) - Mr. Masloske came to the meeting to
inform the Mayor and Trustees about an unsafe condition in the townhouse he resides in.
October of 2009 there was a fire in a dryer vent of his townhouse building that was caused by the
lack of keeping the dryer vents cleaned properly. Mr. Masloske wanted the Village to pass an
ordinance requiring the townhouse owners to keep their vents cleaned. Mr. Janonis told Mr.
Masloske that it is up to his homeowners association to enforce such a requirement not the
Village. Mayor Wilks told Mr. Masloske to contact the Village's Fire Prevention Bureau and

they could attend an association meeting to stress the importance of keeping their dryer vents
properly maintained. Staff will have a Fire Prevention representative contact Mr. Masloske.
Skip Farley, Emerson St. - Mr. Farley wanted to know if during this construction season will
the white caps be removed from the roofs of the Village Centre Buildings. Mr. Janonis stated
that there is an association meeting on Monday 4/12/1 0 to discuss some kind of resolution to the
problem. It is a civil matter involving several insurance companies and there is a pending
settlement to solve the problem. Mr. Farley's second item was a problem with loud motorcycle
exhaust pipes in his area. Do the Police monitor this? Mr. Janonis said the Police do issue
tickets if they catch offenders. Another noise problem is trucks jack breaking on Route 83.
Does the Village monitor this? Mr. Janonis stated he was unaware of the problem. Signs could
possibly be posted but the State of Illinois would have to approve them. Mayor Wilks said staff
would have the Village's Traffic Unit check into these two issues.
Jan Kent & Teri Markovits, Briarwood - Ms. Kent asked if the Village had anything new to
report about the status of their problems with their sanitary sewer system. Mr. Andler gave an
update on the work completed to date. All sewers have been televised, building inspections were
still being completed, and the Village's Engineering Consultant was reviewing the TV results
and evaluating felid data. In April and May flow monitoring of the sewer system is going to be
conducted. Mr. Andler said it would late summer before a final report is ready for the Village
Board's review. Ms. Kent and all the residents of Lake Briarwood will be notified when the
final report is presented to the Village Board.
Jim Chylik, Locust - Mr. Chylik just stopped by to thank Public Works for promptly fixing
some pot holes in his neighborhood.
Louis Goodman, N. School - Mr. Goodman is still concerned about cars parking across
sidewalks in his neighborhood. The Police Department sent letters to offenders last October but
there are still two houses that are not complying on North Maple. Mr. Goodman told the Mayor
that Sgt. Smith has the addresses but if additional letters don't work, tickets should be issued.
The Village will continue to monitor the situation.
Jerry Boldt, N. School - Mr. Boldt asked if Isabella west of Rand Rd. is scheduled for repair.
He also asked if Busse Rd. south of Central Rd. could be repaired. Mr. Andler told Mr. Boldt
that Isabella is scheduled to be resurfaced this year, but Busse Rd is not the Village's
responsibility. Busse Rd. is maintained by Cook County. Mr. Andler will call Cook County and
inform them about the conditions of Busse Rd. and ask them to make the necessary repairs.
Steve Vanarsdale, Candota - Mr. Vanarsdale stopped by to share with the Mayor and Trustees
his knowledge of the Crime Stoppers Program. The program has been extremely successfully
both nationally and internationally.

Thomas Tezky, N. School - Mr. Tezky informed the Mayor that his father's health is getting
worse. Mayor Wilks told Mr. Tezky to contact the Village's Human Services Department and
they may be able to offer some helpful advice.
Carol Tortorello, S. Elmhurst - Ms. Tortorello wanted to know who is paying for all the
American Idol banners and signs. Mr. Janonis answered that they are paid for by individual
sponsors/supporters. The Village did however spend a small amount ($100) for some shirts and
buttons.
Robert Boros, Azalea - Mr. Boros lives in the Illinois American Water service area and
expressed his disappointment with the Village's lack of attendance at the recent ICC Rate
Increase Hearings. Mayor Wilks and Mr. Janonis explained that the Village sent a written
testimony to the ICC on behalf of our residents serviced by Illinois American Water. The
Village was told we would not be allowed to speak at the hearings so the Village did not attend.
The Mayor told Mr. Boros to call the Mayor and let her know of any future meetings and she
will see that someone attends.
David Schein, NaWaTa - Mr. Schein asked if the Village knew anything about a program that
distinguishes a community as a "Storm Ready Community". Mr. Andler answered no but he
would check into it and see if there was any benefit to it. Mr. Schein also commented on the
posted speed limit in the parking deck. He feels it is too high and people consistently exceed it.
The Village will monitor it.
The meeting was adjourned at 11 :00 am.
