MAYOR'S REPORT 05/04/2010 PROCLAMATION "NATIONAL POLICE WEEK" May 9 -15,2010 WHEREAS, there are approximately 900,000 law enforcement officers serving in communities across the United States, including the members of the Mount Prospect Police Department; and WHEREAS, some 60,000 assaults against law enforcement officers are reported each year, resulting in approximately 16,000 injuries; and WHEREAS, since the first recorded death in 1792, more than 19,000 law enforcement officers in the United States have made the ultimate sacrifice and been killed in the line of duty; and WHEREAS, the names of these dedicated public servants are engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D. c.; and WHEREAS, 324 new names of fallen heroes are being added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial this spring, including 116 officers killed in 2009 and 208 officers killed in previous years; and WHEREAS, the service and sacrifice of all officers killed in the line of duty will be honored during the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund's nnd annual Candlelight Vigil, on the evening of Thursday, May 13, 2010; and WHEREAS, the Candlelight Vigil is part of National Police Week, which takes place this year on May 9-15; and WHEREAS, May 15 is designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day, in honor of fallen officers and their families. NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim the week of May 9 - 15, 2010 as "NATIONAL POLICE WEEK" in the Village of Mount Prospect and publicly salutes the service of law enforcement officers in our community and in communities across the nation. And, I call upon all individuals to recognize the dedicated men and women of the Village of Mount Prospect Police Department for their efforts to maintain our peaceful community and to also remember the fallen or disabled members of law enforcement agencies throughout our country. Wilks Mayor ATTEST: M Lisa Angell Village Clerk Dated this 4th day of May, 2010 PROCLAMATION "NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK" May 16 - 22,2010 WHEREAS, the services provided by the Public Works Department in our community are an integral part of our citizens' everyday lives; and WHEREAS, the support of an understanding and informed community is vital to the efficient operation of a public works system and its many programs relating to water, sewers, streets and highways, public buildings, public grounds, solid waste collection, recycling, trees, and snow removal,' and WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these facilities, as well as their planning, design and construction are dependent upon the efforts and skills of public works employees; and WHEREAS, the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated personnel who staff public works departments is materially influenced by the people's attitude and understanding of the importance of the work they perform; and WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Public Works Department will have an Open House on Saturday, May 15, 2010, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., to acquaint the residents of Mount Prospect with the many services provided by the Public Works Department. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS ACTING IN THE EXERCISE OF THEIR HOME RULE POWERS: SECTION ONE: That in accordance with Subsection A of Section 13.108 of Chapter 13 of the Village Code of Mount Prospect, as amended, the Corporate Authorities shall determine the number of Liquor Licenses available in each Classification and shall establish a list specifying the number of Liquor Licenses authorized. Said list is hereby amended by decreasing the number of "Class F-2" Liquor License by One (1) PAD THAI RESTAURANT INC. d/b/a PAD THAI RESTAURANT at 2310 S. Elmhurst Road.
