HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 23-60 11/15/1960 II RESOLUTION NO. 23-60 WHEREAS, on October 18, 1960, the corporate authorities received and opened bids for the cleaning and painting of a one-mill ion-gallon elevated tank pursuant to advertisement, instructions to bidder, I contract conditions and specifications as prepared by Consoer, Townsend II & Associates; and II ~dEREAS, on October 18, 1960, pursuant to a proposal submitted II I I by Craftsmen Painting & Tank Service, 9807 Longwood Drive, Chicago 43, I ! I Illinois, accompanied by a certified check in the amount of $215.00, the President and Board of Trustees accepted the said proposal in accordance with the terms set out therein; and WHEREAS, on October 19, 1960 the said Craftsmen Painting & Tank II Service was notified of said acceptance of said proposal and a contract submitted; and \iHEREAS, by letter dated October 25, 1960 the said Craftsmen Painting & Tank Service advised they would not execute the contract to do said work in accordance with their proposal; and WHEREAS, the corporate authorities deem it to be in the best interests of the Village of Mount Prospect that the said work be re-advertised and new bids received and a demand made upon said Crafts- men for any damage caused the said Village by an increase in the cost to the Village, if any; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois: 1. That Craftsmen Painting & Tank Service is found to be in default of this proposal for the cleaning and painting of the one-mill ion-gallon elevated tank, which proposal was accepted by the Village of Mount Prospect on October 18, 1960. .. That as a result of the aforesaid default, all other bids heretofore received for said project be and the same are hereby rejected, and that said job be re-advertised, and if the lowest responsible bid thereupon received and accepted is in excess of the amount bid by Craftsmen as aforesaid, then Craftsmen should be held liable for said difference which amount the Village of Mount Prospect is damaged thereby as a result of said increased cost. 3. The certified check in the amount of $215.00 received from Craftsmen with said proposal is hereby declared to be forfeited and to be retained by the Village Treasurer until the full amount of damage to the Village be ascertained as provided in Paragraph 2 hereof. 4. The Village Attorney is directed to advise the said Craftsmen of this action. PASSED this fifteenth day of November, 1960. APPROVED this fifteenth day of November, 1960.
