(3 0~:t/ RESOLUTION NO. - (~f WHEREAS, The Village of Mount Prospect, acting through its President and Board of Trustees, entered into a Contract with Wil-Freds, Inc., on " March 1, 1960, for the construction of Water Supply Improvements, Con- tract No.3, Well No. 6 Equipment, and . WHEREAS, a part of said Contract includes the furnishing and installation of a submersible deep well turbine pump and motor in Well No.6, and WHEREAS, the Contractor installed said pump and subsequently commenced , a running test of the unit on February 15, 1961, which test aborted after a very short time due to seizure of the rotating parts, and WHEREAS, the pump was withdrawn from the well, and upon dismantling was found to be complete! y clogged with sand, (which sand is assumed to come from the St. Peter Sandstone Strata surrounding the pum~ and which sand caused damage and wear to the pump, and WHEREAS, there is no presently known method of stabilizing and cementing the St. Peter Sandstone formation, now therefore BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, that a Contract Supplement be entered into with Wil- Freds, Inc., which Contract Supplement shall include the following pro- visions: 1) Remove pump from well and disas semble for inspection, 2) Furnish and install stainless steel shaft and bronze bowl bushings, and cut sand grooves in impeller hubs, 3) Furnish and install two all... bronze spacer bearings, 4) Reassemble pump and reinstall in well at an elevation suitably above the St. Peter Sandstone formation, 5) The total additional compensation to the Contractor shall not exceed the sum of $4,529.29 6} The guaranteed over-all wire-to-water efficiency of the pump and motor shall be reduced from 70.2% to "" ">", % pumping clear cold water, 1 ./ 7) The time of completion of the Contract shall be extended from ~arch 26, 1961 to ~ay 26, 1961, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: The President and Clerk be authorized and directed to sign the same on behalf of the Village, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the actions and authorizations contained in this Resolution shall not prejudtrie or act as a waiver of any rights which the Village of ~ount Prospect might have as to claims against Consoer, Townsend, and Associates, Wil-Freds, Inc., Byron Jackson Pumps, Inc., and ~. P. Schneller & Associates with respect to the failure of operation of the pumping unit of Well No. 6 and additional costs caused thereby. * * * * * I, Robert E.
