Corcoran Paul Wm. Hoefert Richard M. Lohrstorfer Dennis G. Prikkel Michaele W. Skowron Irvana K. Wilks VILLAGE MANAGER Michael E. Janonis MINUTES CLOSED SESSION JULY 18, 2000 The Closed Session was called to order at 9:57 p.m., in the conference room of the Senior Center. A roll call was taken. Present were: Trustees Paul Hoefert, Richard Lohrstorfer, Michaele Skowron and Irvana Wilks. Mayor Farley did not attend the Closed Session for health reasons. Absent from the Closed Session were Trustees Timothy Corcoran and Dennis Prikkel. Trustee Hoefert served as Chair during the Closed Session. Staff present included Village Manager Michael Janonis. The purpose of the Closed Session was to discuss Union negotiations. Union Negotiations Village Manager Michael Janonis reviewed with those Board members present the status of negotiations with the Patrol Officers Union. Mr. Janonis indicated that the final three open issues were wages, health insurance modifications and work schedule changes. Mr. Janonis reviewed the last offers and counter-offers from both the Village and the Union. Mr. Janonis indicated that a wage settlement of 3.5% in the current year and 4% in each of years three and four would likely result in an agreement that would include significant changes in the Village's drug prescription card. Mr. Janonis indicated that wage settlements generally were in the three and one-half to four percent range and that this type of wage increase would not be out of character with comparable communities. Trustees asked for clarification regarding changes in the medical insurance benefits and were satisfied that same were beneficial in the Village's efforts to contain health insurance costs. It was the consensus of those Board members present that a settlement as described by Mr. Janonis would be in the best interest of the Village. There being no further business, on a Motion by Trustee Wilks and Seconded by Trustee Skowron, the Closed Session was adjourned by unanimous vote at 10:25 p.m. MEJ/rcc IS
