The Executive Session was called to order at 11:03 p.m., in the second floor Conference
Room of the Senior Citizens Center, 50 South Emerson Street, for the purpose of
discussing land acquisition, litigation and review of Executive Session Minutes. Present
at the Executive Session were: Mayor Gerald Farley; Trustees Mark Busse, George
Clowes, Timothy Corcoran, and Paul Hoefert. Absent fram the Executive Session were
Trustees Leo Floras and Irvana Wilks. Also present was Village Manager John Dixon.
Planning and Zoning Director David Clements and Attorney Everette Hill were present
for a portion of the Executive Session.
The first item to be discussed was Land Acquisition. The Village Manager and Director
of Planning and Zoning informed the Board that discussions with the owners of the
property at the old Aldi's Store, Mr. Chang had progressed to a point where staff needed
authorization to attempt to enter into a contract for purchase of the property.
Furthermore, staff informed the Board that there had been discussions with Broadacre
concerning an arrangement wherein they, in three years, would be participants in the
purchase of this property as well.
The Board authorized staff to start putting numbers together and determine whether or
not a contract is obtainable. Director of Planning and Zoning then left the Executive
Session.
The second item discussed was Litigation. Village Attorney Buzz Hill entered the
Executive Session to discuss the Snuggery and Disconnect lawsuits. He brought the
Board up to date on the attempt to have discussions with the attorney for the Snuggery
to try to work out an arrangement to resolve these suits. After discussion, the Village
Board authorized the Mayor to contact the principal owner of the Snuggery to attempt
to negotiate settlement of this lawsuit and the Disconnect Suit as well. Attorney Hill
then left the Executive Session.
The third item discussed in Executive Session was the prior six months Executive Session
Minutes. The Village Board determined to release previously held Minutes of
September 11, 1990, to release the May 22, 1991 and the June 18, 1991 Minutes.
The Executive Session was adjourned at 11:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
