Assistant Village Manager David Strahl provided an overview of the status regarding the Firefighter
negotiations to date and stated that the majority of items have been tentatively agreed to, however,
there are three remaining items, which are anticipated to be forwarded to an Arbitrator for final
decision. One of the items that will not be forwarded to the Arbitrator is the wage increase. It is
quite typical that both sides do not agree on wage increases and must forward wage decisions to
Arbitrators for final determination. No date has been set for the arbitration. He stated that he will
continue to update the Board as the process continues and if an Arbitrator's decision is rendered, ;
such a decision will need to go before the Village Board for final approval. ~

Human Resources Director. He stated that interviews have taken place with six individuals and
negotiations are ongoing with the two final candidates in anticipation that the Village would be able

candidates and interviewed six finalists through extensive interviews and background checks among
Village staff.
Village Manager Janonis provided an update regarding the Police Chief recruitment. He stated that
the Village had received 40 resumes and a group of semi-finalists have been chosen and sent a
questionnaire for further determination of the status and the process. He anticipates that up to six
finalists will be invited for a two-day assessment center during May 8 and 9.
