Jan Kent and Teri Markavits, Briarwood Drive
– Ms. Kent stated that she and Ms.
Markavits were present to determine what progress the Public Works Department had
made regarding the sewer backup problems that were impacting their neighborhood.
Mr. Strahl stated that staff continues to investigate the situation but that a final
determination had not been made regarding the source of the problem. There was
general discussion about the ongoing problems and possible causes. Mr. Strahl
suggested that this item be added to the agenda of the upcoming neighborhood
st
meeting on February 1 so that the Village could provide a status to the neighbors. Ms.
Kent and Ms. Markavits agreed that this would be appropriate and also asked that the
Public Works Department contact them in the meantime to advise of their progress.

im Chylik, Locust Lane
– Mr. Chylik recognized the Public Works Department for
their snow removal efforts. He also asked if the Village had ever considered passing an
ordinance requiring commercial and apartment owners to shovel their sidewalks,
especially on major roadways. He said that he has seen many people walking in the
roadways and thinks that this is very unsafe. Mr. Strahl stated that the Village had not
considered such an ordinance but that staff could investigate what other communities
have done on this matter.

Bill Cooney
