February 03, 2010 Page 1 of 4 ~ MOUNT PROSPECT YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES ROLL CALL Secretary Cindy Rumore called the roll. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Delanie Steinweg, seconded by Rabia Memon, moved to approve the amended minutes of the January 05,2010 Youth Commission meeting. Motion carried by unanimous approval. ISSUES COMMITTEE: Danish, Husain, Dan Kovach, Eric Logisz, Christian Lopez, Daniel Milewski, Nandini Roy Officer Anthony Addante, Adult Advisor, George Clowes, Adult Advisor Members reviewed the revised full page and half page survey and agreed to place full page survey on the Village website. Adult Advisor George Clowes to forward revised copy to Danish Husain for him to send to Maura El Metennani for placement on Village website. Members discussed placement of the Youth Commission surveys at local businesses and/or organizations throughout the Village: Central Community Center, Mount Prospect Public Library, Photo's Hot Dogs, River Trails Park District-Weiss Community Center, RecPlex, and Community Connections Center. Copies of surveys distributed to members for placement at selected locations. Youth Commission members to inquire at area park district facilities of upcoming youth events for possible attendance to display Youth Commission information. YOUTH RESOURCE CATALOG COMMITTEE: Nora Gawlik, Adam Kiel, Rachel Otte, Merrily Ruetsche Steven Polit, Adult Advisor, Patti Walpole, Adult Advisor Youth Resource Catalog Committee advised they are in the process of updating the catalog and it should be completed by the March meeting. Spanish version of the Youth Resource Catalog to be updated to the new format as well. PUBLIC RELA nONS COMMITTEE: Emily Lindfors, Christian Lopez, Rabia Memon, Alex Oplawski, Delanie Steinweg, Derek Steinweg David Schein, Adult Advisor Public Relations Committee held a separate meeting in January. Delanie Steinweg gave a summary of meeting discussion to members. Christian Lopez gave display board presentation to the Lion's Club prior to Youth Commission meeting on February 03, 2010. During the February Youth Commission meeting, members were contacted by the Lion's Club and advised of their acceptance of Youth Commission proposal for display board. February 03, 2010 Page 2 of 4 ~ MOUNT PROSPECT YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES Members discussed uses for the display case: Lion's Fest, Farmer's Market, and Community Connections Center. Chairman Derek Steinweg to send thank you note to the Lron's Club for their donation of the display board to the Youth Commission. Adult Advisor Patti Walpole suggested asking the Lion's Club for one of their logos to display on the display board. Members discussed presenting a certificate to Lion's Club for their purchase of display board for the Youth Commission at a future meeting. ADMINISTRA TION COMMITTEE: Emily Lindfors, Eric Logisz, Daniel Milewski, Nandini Roy, Derek Steinweg Cindy Rumore, Secretary Administration Committee did not hold a separate meeting in January. No report submitted. Secretary Cindy Rumore still waiting for quote on t-shirts from local company. OLD BUSINESS VILLAGE COMMISSION / ORGANIZATION MEETINGS Chairman Derek Steinweg encouraged members to choose a Village commission / organization meeting to attend and report on youth related issues at March meeting. Youth Commission members did not attend any additional Village meetings in January. FOOD PURCHASE ROT A TION Alex Oplawski volunteered for food purchase for the March meeting. OTHER BUSINESS YOUTH VIEW Adult Advisor George Clowes advised next planned Youth View programs include going to college with former Youth Commission members and home schooling with Youth Commission member Merrily Ruetsche's Mom on February 17,2009. Adult Advisor George Clowes has submitted previously taped Youth View programs to the Village for placement on the Village website.
