Chairman Busse called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Powers to accept the
minutes of the November 3, 2009, Open Meeting.
Voice Vote: Ayes: Busse, Friedricks, Powers, Skowron
Nays: None Motion Carried
FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
The Chief provided a brief report on Fire Department staffing. Chief Figolah handed out copies of the
information book for the Mount Prospect Fire Department 2010 Promotion Process for the rank of
Lieutenant. Applications are due January 22, 2010. The Board briefly discussed the promotional process.
Probationary Firefighter/Paramedic interviews start at the conclusion of tonight's regular meeting, with
Commissioners Skowron, Friedrichs and Powers participating in the interview process. At the conclusion
of interviews, the Board will vote on a new eligibility list. Chief Figolah recommended that once the new
eligibility list is established, he would like to delay the next test in order to conduct a review of the current
process. After a general discussion, the Board agreed.
POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Dahlber~ updated the Board on police department staffing. With Detective Riordan's retirement on
December 29 and Officer Roscop's retirement on January 4, 2010, the department is still one over
strength. Chief Dahlberg also reported .that the police department will not conduct a new hire test this
year, as the current Police Officer Eligibility List will not expire until April 15, 2011.
OTHER BUSINESS
Commissioners Skowron and Powers attended the Illinois Fire & Police Commissioners Conference and
provided information from the educational sessions about interviewing techniques, as well as how other
communities conduct their hiring process. Chairman Busse requested more information about the spring
conference.

CLOSED SESSION
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Powers to go into
Closed Session under personnel51LCS 120/2 (c)(1) at 5:45 p.m.
Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Busse, Friedrichs, Powers, Skowron
Nays: None Motion Carried
The Board returned to Open Session at 5:59 p.m. with everyone present.
Chief Dahlberg informed the Board that the "Officer of the Year" ceremony will be held on February 2nd
during the Village Board Meeting. The Commissioners agreed to schedule their next meeting for February
2nd at 6:00 p.m. to allow members the opportunity to attend the awards ceremony after the meeting.
Commissioner Skowron also reminded everyone the Celestial Celebration is being held the first weekend
in February.
A motion was made by Commissioner Friedrichs and seconded by Commissioner Skowron to adjourn at
6:00 p.m.

The Board returned to Open Session at 6:40 p.m. for the purpose of conducting Fire Department Oral
Interviews
The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Powers.

A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Friedrichs to return to
Closed Session under Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1) at 6:41 p.m. for the purpose of conducting Fire
Department Oral Interviews.
Roll Call: Ayes: Friedrichs, Powers, Skowron
Nays: None Motion Carried
The Board reconvened at 9:28 p.m. with Commissioners Powers, Friedrichs, Skowron, Fire Chief Figolah
and Battalion Chief Uldl present.
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Friedrichs to adjourn at
9:29 p.m.
