DISCUSSION GF FLOODING MAY 12~ 1966,
Be~amse of the severity of flood damage in different areas, ?loodin~ in
discussion was divided into the three areas most affected, H~ien Hts
namely: Hatlen Heights, Tower Lane and Elk Ridge Villa. Tower Lane

Mr. David Creamer, Director of Public Works, explained the Villa
sit~aticu at Hatlen Heights, and estimated if 30" tile were
installed at a cost of approximately $30~000 for 1,500~ to

Mr. Creamer then discussed the problem in the Tower Lane
area, stating the reason the flooding occurs is that the
water goes into the interceptor at George Street m~d whe~
it is fall the sanitary sewers build up. The Golf~.~rst area
has the same problem. }ir. Virgil Livingstma, 912' country
Lane, stated that they are far away from the interceptor,

quate. Nr, Creamer explained that the pipes are half fall
ef quicksand, and the district has been notified of this
blockage. Mr. Rudolph J. Schubert, 904 Tower Lane, requested

Elk Ridge Villa was the n~ flooded area under COnsideratian.
This loca$ica is serviced by Utility Sewer amd Water and the
severe damage to homes in this area was because sewerage
b&cked up into homes e~ Cott*awood from south unit in the 15"
sewer on- the north side. There is an 8" sewer on the -east
side of the street from Fern to Redwood in~o the 15" on
Cottonwood and ~asse.
Hr. Herb stebbins, 1414 Hickory, presented a petition signed
by 64 rssidents of Elk Ridge Villa requestim~ the Village to
take an]~ 'and all necessary measures to require Utility Sewer
and Water Co.~any te provide a proper functioning sanitary
sewer system for their~area. Mr. Jerry Turf, 1425 Circle
Drive, ~sked to determine She responsibility of the flooding
and if it wer~ necessary to have a lift station te eliminate
this hasard?

to make a specific report .of their findings and reconmenda-

not to exceed the sum of $3,000, to investi, gate the flooding
problems in the Hatlen Heights amd Tower Eane areas.
