RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON
WHEREAS, the holiday season has arrived, and it is the time of the year
when, as individuals and as a community, we reflect on our relationships with
others, the goodwill that is shared, and all that remains to be done to create a
peaceful and safe world for all,' and
WHEREAS, such a solemn, but joyous, time should include exchanges of
concern, care, and love among all people.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND
BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT,
COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: The President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Mount Prospect do extend to the citizens of Mount Prospect our sincere wishes
for a joyous holiday season, and on behalf of our entire community, we extend
to everyone a resolution of good faith and kindness so that there may be peace
on this earth.
SECTION TWO: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.

PROCLAMA TION
"TEDDY BEAR WALK WEEK"
November 29 - December 6, 2009
WHEREAS, in 1980 the annual Teddy Bear Walk was started by the
Mount Prospect Public Library, Mount Prospect State Bank and
downtown merchants to provide a holiday tradition for the children of
Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, December 5, 2009 marks the 29th anniversary of this annual
event; and
WHEREAS, the event will be celebrated with songs, stories, and a
parade,' and
WHEREAS, the event will end with Ted E. Bear leading a parade of
families and bears in the annual Teddy Bear Walk,' and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect recognizes this popular
community event.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount
Prospect, do hereby proclaim November 29 through December 5, 2009 as
MOUNT PROSPECT TEDDY BEAR WALK WEEK, and I thank everyone
who has contributed to making the Teddy Bear Walk a favorite holiday
tradition for the families of Mount Prospect.

PROCLAMATION
"NATIONAL DRUNK AND DRUGGED DRIVING (3D)
PREVENTION MONTH"
DECEMBER 2009
WHEREAS, motor vehicle crashes killed 1 ,042 people In Illinois
during 2008; and
WHEREAS, 362 percent of those deaths involved a driver impaired
by alcohol; and
WHEREAS, the December holiday season is traditionally one of the
most deadly times of the year for alcohol-impaired driving; and
WHEREAS, for thousands of families across the state and nation,
these holidays are a time to remember loved ones lost; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is proud to partner with the
Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety and
advocacy groups in that effort to make our streets and roads safer.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mayor Irvana K. Wilks, do hereby proclaim
December 2009 as "Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention
Month" in the Village of Mount Prospect and do hereby call upon all
citizens, government agencies, business leaders, hospitals and other
health care providers, schools and public and private institutions to
promote awareness of the impaired driving problem, to support
programs and policies to reduce the incidence of impaired driving and
to promote safer and healthier behaviors regarding the use of alcohol
and other drugs, this December holiday season and throughout the
year.

PROCLAMATION
MOUNT PROSPECT SUNRISE ROTARY DAY
DECEMBER 2, 2009
WHEREAS, Rotary International is an organization deserving of the community's respect
and appreciation for its commitment to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace
through the improvement of health, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty,'
WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Sunrise Rotary Club has been serving our community
faithfully for 18 years supporting many worthy programs, including its vocational scholarship
program, involvement in the new Community Connections Center, and providing hygiene kits
for WINGS, the Village of Mount Prospect and CEDA Northwest,'
WHEREAS, an important source o/funds to sustain these vital community endeavors will be
the Club's annual Rotary Holiday Breakfast and Raffle, to be held at the Mount Prospect
Public Library on Wednesday, December 2nd,' and
WHEREAS, the leaders of the community are humbly invited to lend their support to this
gala event by buying rajjle tickets and donning their very best holiday.finery to provide a
suitable court for the Prospect High School Madrigal Choir, which will entertain,' and
WHEREAS, owners of raffle tickets for said event will have an opportunity to win great
prizes, including a 42-inch flat panel plasma television set, a Blu-Ray disc player and a hard
disc drive camcorder,'
WHEREAS, the day for Mount Prospect Sunrise Rotary Club's annual Holiday Breakfast
and Raffle comes only once a year.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect do hereby
proclaim Wednesday, December 2, 2009, as Mount Prospect Sunrise Rotary Day in the
Village of Mount Prospect, and urge everyone in the Village to try to take time from the
busyness of that day to remember how Rotary's contributions enhance our community.
