Trustee Rogers read for first reading an ordinance a~ending Section 21.~227 reading re
of the M~icipal Code re garage setbacks and the Clerk was requested set backs
to place it on the next agenda for second reading.
Trustee Rogers gave a first reading of an ordinance amending Section 2 1st reading
of the Zoning Ordinance-applications, permits and occupancy certificates
re: occupancy
and requested the Clerk ~o place it on the next agenda for second reading, permits

Under this Committee, a first reading of an ordinance creating a restau-
license for
rant license was scheduled. However, the Board of Trustees considered this restaurant
matter further. It was agreed study should be made on the number of

licenses to be issued and the possibility of an increase in license fee.
Trustee Grittani, seconded by Trustee Teichert, moved to direct the
Village Attonney to prepare an ordinance increasing liquor licenses by
$1,000 each, except a club license which would be from its current feet
of $~50,00 to $500.

motion until the second regular meeting in November. Unanimous.
The matter of liquor licensing was placed in the Finance Committee,

Trustee Lewis~ seconded by Trustee Teichert ~ moved to correct S~ction 4
changing the wording "as specified in Section 1" to read "as specified
October 1~ 1968
in Section 2", and in Section 2: (b) the north property line of Plaza
Shopping Center, changing the wording from "approximately 1654 ft. long"
to approximately 1272.31 ft. long."

Attorney Henry Szala, attorney for Goldblatts, stated the proposed build-
ing does not cor~ply with the zoning regulations and it will be necessary
to petition for other variations. He stated the proposed building would
be erected on land leased from the owner of the property and requested
that the Village assume a special assessn~nt for building of that portion
of Westgate Road.
The roll call vote on the motion for passage and approval of Ordinance
#2102 as amended was: Ayes: Reiter Grittani Kilroy Leiws Rogers
Teichert.

PUBLIC WORKS CO~MI'~'i'~E Water Meter
Trustee Teichert reported that the water meter.contract bids had been Contract Bids
reviewed and the committee voted 3-0 to rscormmend authorization for the
Village Presient to sig~ contracts with Hershey Sparling for fco~nercial
water m~ters and Badger for residential meters, and moved the Board
concur with the committee's reconm~ndation as outlined, authorizing the
Village President to sign the contracts. Trustee Grittani seconded
the motion.

raffic The following bids were received for traffic lights at Owen St. &
LightBids Central Rd. M~T 29CS: Pinner Electric, Brookfield, $32,017.25, Wood ~i
~en & Electric~ Chicago $29,868.25, Contracting & Material Co. Evanston,
Central $30,572. and G. A. Rafel & Co. Chicago $26,918. It was recommended
awarding the contract to the low bidder, G.A. Rafel and Company in
the amount of $26,918. The Committee, by a vote of 3-0, concurred
in the recormmendation. Trustee Teichert, seconded by Trustee Rogers,
moved to accept the bid of G. A. Rafel and Company in the amount of
$26,918. for stop lights at Central and Owen, known as M~T 29CS.

SA #70 OTHER BUSINESS
SPECIAL ASSESSYENT # 70 - Report of Village Attorney stated that upon
the review of this special assessment the estimated cost is in excess
of $200,000 which indicated that under the law a notice of such proposed
special assessment b~ published. This matter was placed in the Building
Committee, and the Clerk was requested to place it on the next Village
Board agenda.
The Village Manager reported that he was directed to determine if the
necessary easements had been obtained for Special Assessment #70 ~nd
stated all had been acquired.

Crumley ACQUISITION OF CRUMLEY PROPERTY FOR UEE AS ~ETENTION BASIN
Property The side is located on Busse Road, across from Hatlen Heights, outside
for retention the Village limits. It c an be purchased for $56,000.00 and $200,000.00
bas~ has been appropriated for the acquisition of land this fisaal year.
Trustee Rogers, seconded by Trustee Teichert, moved for ratification of
purchase of the Crumley property authorizing the President and Elerk to
sign the contract of purchase.

SAF~T~ COX. APPOINTMENT appointment
President Congreve recommended the appointment of Joseph A. Reising, J.A. Reising
405 Na Wa Ta as amember of the Safety Commission for a term of one year.
Trustee Lewis, seconded by Trustee Teichert, moved to concur with the
President's appointment of Joseph A. Reising as a member of the Safety
Commission for a term of one year. Unanimous.
SALT SPREADERS Salt Spreade~
The Public Works Department and the Village Manager requested the Board
authorize the purchase of three conversion units for converting existing
auger spreaders from drive shaft power to hydraulic power for a total
amount of $540 a spreader, or $1620 for three, and the purchase of one
new SWenson auger type spreader in the amount of $760, or a total purchase
of $2380. The budget contains a sum of $2400 for the purchase of
additional spreaders. If this porcedure is followed, the Public Works
Department WOuld then have three converted auger type spreaders, one new
auger type spreader and one rotary type spreader with tw~ drive shaft
spreaders in reserve. Trustee Teichert, seconded by Trustee Grittani,
moved the Board accept the recommendation and authorize the purchase of
3 Swenson conversion units at a cost of $540.00 each, and one new auger
in the amount of $760, or a total of $2380.

President Congreve reported that through purchasing salt from the State Purchase
the Village can now obtain it for $10.10 per ton. salt throuth
