CITIZENS TO BE HEARD
Clarence Okon of 707 Hatlen appeared before the Village Board to request Flooding
relief from the flooding from the retention pond at Busse and Golf retention
Roads. The Village Manager stated at the time of the first two floods pond Busse &
the retention basin ~as outside the jurisdiction of the Village. How- Golf
ever, the Village has received clear title to the property and there_'.
is now an engineering study of the problem. The contractor for the C. Okon
state has been excavating to enlarge the retention basin and work to
be done within the next ten days at the northeast corner where a wall
was originally put in. This wall will be buil~ hp and the Public
Works Department has been directed to install barricades.
Howard Cooper of Farmer Cooper's Restaurant at Kensington and Rsnd Farmer Coope:
requested a beer license. This was referred to the Finance Committee beer license
for consideration of September 16th. request

upon the reduction in taxes in the past t~o years.

68-34A Trustee Lewis read for second reading Ordinance #2092:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 20[1
regarding Board of Appeals Case 68-34A deleting the words "known as
John Mufich Buick". Trustee Lewis, sec onded by Trustee Rogers,
moved for approval of Ordinance #2092.
Trustee Teichert stated that he was opposed to the or.~inal variation
granted and therefor would also vote in the negative in the amendment
of the ordinance.

68-26P Trustee Lewis gave first reading to an ordinance rezoning proper~y on
1st reading Golf Road (Lots 1, 2 and 8 in Junke's Resubdivision) - Case 68-26P
to B-2 and requested the Village Clerk to place it on the next agenda
for final reading.
6~-30A Trustee Lewis read an ordinance for a side yard variation (Case 68-30A)
1st reading at 1820 Bonita for a first reading and requested the Village Clerk
to place it on the next agenda for final reading.
At this time in the meeting Trustee Reiter arrived.

to as Village Officials).
Trustee Grittani, seconded by Trustee Lewis, amended the above motion
to move for passage of Ordinance #2094 as revised by adding in pargraph
(a) after salaried employees (hereinafter referred to as Village
Officials ).

In accordance with the regtulations set forth in the ordinance, the
Village Clerk was directed to have forms sent to the various officials
along with a copy of the ordinance, for the completion after the
effective date of the ordinance.
PUBLIC WORKS CO~IT±~EE S.A. # 70
SPECIAL ASSESSMENT #70 - Improvement of the storm water system in
Hatlen Heights. Trustee Teichert reported the Public Works Cormmittee
reconm~nded the Village participate in public benefit funds in the
amount of $50,000 in Special Assessment #70 and moved, seconded by
Trustee Gritt~ni, that the Board concur in the recomendation.
Under discussion, Trustee Rogers reported that the ~roJect engineer,
George Auderson, stated this would not create any problem to residents
downstream if this improvement wers approved.
Pekin to
Trustee Rogers was requested to discuss with Mr. Ben Pekin, developer participate
of Dana Point in Arlington Heights, what extend he would participate in SA 70
in teh tentative special assessment.
Participation by Kaplan and Braun would also be considered.

The above bids were opened August 1st. Approximately 185 trees needed
replacement. The specifications called for 2" trees, balled and
burlapped, with two-year guarantee.
Trustee Teichert, seconded by Trustee Rogers, moved to award the
contract to the low bidder, Lundstrem Orchard Hills Nursery, with
the specific guarantees and amounts as stated above.

OTHER BUSINESS NIPC
Plan Commission recon~nended the Village of Mount Prospect not contribute request for
to Northern Illinois Plsnning Commission. This matter was referred funds
to the Finance Committee for study and recor~nendation.

0rd 2089 Ordinance #2089 - An Ordinance Vacating a Portion of Thayer Street
Veb~ed west of Kenilworth - passed by the Board of August 20th was vetoed
by President Congreve because of a discrepancy with the vacated
portion of 5hayer Street and what v~s agreed upon under the Consent
Decree in Case 65L9036. No action was taken by the Board.
A new ordinance vacating 5hayer Street pursuant to the terms of the
Consent Decree was presented, and Trustee Lewis read it for first
reading. 5he Clerk was requested to place it on the next agenda
for second reading,.
Tree Tri~raing TREE ~IMMING
In an agreement with Tri State Clearing, Inc. made the 16th day of
July, 1968, it stated "If the Village, through the President and
Board of Trustees, determine~ that sufficient funds are available
in the general corporate fund~ by motion of the President and Board
of Trustees, Area t/1 as specified in the specifications attached
hereto may be desigaated as an extension of this contract wherein
the Contractor agrees to furnish all materials, equipment and
labor for the lump sum of $11,877.90" $12,000. has been budgeted
for tree trirmming. Trustee Teichert, seconded by Trustee Kilroy,
moved the Board authorize the Village Manager to contract for Area
#1 with Tri State Clearing, Inc. in the amount of $11,877.90.

Stale Dated A memorandum from the Village Manager presented a list of stale
Checks dated checks and recommended cancellation of those listed~ and that
this practise be followed on an annual basis with all checks and
ws/m'-ants bearing dates in excess of six months. Trustee Lewis,
seconded by Trustee Teichert, moved to approve the recommended list
of cancellations of checks.
