pro basketball being played in the schools, expressing its pop-
ularity with the students, and explained that as plans are de-
veloped, future material will be presented to the Board.

Chicago ~ssion- Society, Sept. 18 and 19, City of HDpe during October, and
aries, Muscular Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. of America, Inc. for September 20th.

City of Hope. Imformation Bureau and recon~nended denial of the first two requests. --

Edwin Haberkamp BY EDWIN HABERKAMP
WHEREAS, EDWIN HABERKAMP has devoted many years of faithful ~
and dedicated service to the Village Of Mou_nt Prospect; eight
years as Village Trustee (1935 - 1943), and as a fireman for
thirty-six years -- serving first as a volunteer from 1934
until 1956, next as Volunteer Chief from 1965 until 1960, and
~tl~2~as Chief of the regular Department from its inception
in 1960 until his resignation August 1, 1970; and
WHEREAS, EDWIN HABERKAMP has through these years devoted his
time ~nd experience and knowledge into making Village govena-
ment and the Village Fire Department efficie~t and coordinated;
and
%f~EREAS,, EK~f[N HABERKAMP has given whole-heartedly of his time
and efforts above and beyond the call of ordinary services in
the performance of these positions; and
W~EREAS, the residents of the Village of Mount Prospect are ink
debted to EDWIN HABERKAMP for his distinguished service to our
Village ;~ and
W~EREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Mount Prospect desire to express to EDWIN GABERKAMP on behalf
of all the residents of the Village their gratitude to him for
his dedicated and distinguished service to the Village;

service to the Village of Mount Prospect as Trustee, fireman and
Fire Chief.
SECTION T~D: That a copy of this Resolution be spread upon

Plaines inviting the President and Board of Trustees to attend Coach

to discuss proble~ of United Motor Coach Company.
Four cormnunications were submitted reE~rding th~ Westgate Westmate
Apartments at 280 N. We~tgate Road, in the unincorporated area Apartments
of Mount Prospect. Mrs. B. W. Garner requested scheduling of
a m~eting with the management of Wastgate Apartments and tenants
to advise services they are or are ~not legally entitled to re-
ceive. A letter addressed to Mrs. Garner from Mayor Teichert
agreed to attend such a meeting. A letter from the Acting
Village Manager, addressed to Mr. Jerry Chez, Tech Management,
~nc. enclosing a bill for $100. for a fire call to the apart-
ments and advising the m~nagement to contact Atty. John P.
O'Brien of Arlington Heights, counsel for Mount Prospec6 Rural
F~re Protection District, indieating their wish to be annexed to
that District and receive fire protection service~ And finally,
a report to Chief Pairitz of the Fire Department from the Fire
Prevention Bureau regarding an inspection of the Westgate Apart-
ment s.

waiving state need for a differential use of instututional services to adoles-
f~nds for a cants was presanted. After discussion it was placed over to
study the next special board meeting to be held September 8, 1970 for
further information.

variation Request for side ~yard variation to allow a .9? ft. setback from

been completed. The Building Committee, by a vote of 3-0,
recormmends concurrence with the 5-0 recormmendation of the Board

Case
Petition for a 3 ft. side yard variation for a corner lot
located at 400 N. Pine St. The Building. Committee, by a vote of
3-0, recormmnded that the President and Board of Trustees concur
with the 6&0 recorm~endation of the Board of Appeals to grant the
variation. An ordinance granting the variation was prepared.~

The Cormmittee reviewed the charge and of the ccasensus that
there is no real problem conceroing this subject. The Con, it-
tee requested the charge be stricken from the docket, with the
understanding, however, that should the problem arise again it
can always be ~eferred back for further consideration. Approved.

POPULATION FIGURE FOE 1970
President Teichert announced he had recieved a preliminary POPULATION
population count from the U.S. Census Department. The pop- 35,286
ulation figure stands at 35,286.
An Ordinance increasing Class "A" liquor licenses for Gold Class ^ liquor
Seal, located at Algonquin and Busse, was presented for first license for
reading. The Clerk was requested to place it on the agenda of Golf Seal

Ah ordinance was presented for first reading for the annual
tax levy, and the Clerk was requested to place it on the agenda

noted that lots 18, 19, 20 were not dedicated for a public
retention basin.
Trustee B_hern, seconded by Trustee Soderman, moved to amend
the above motion to add "subject to developer furnishing
plat of,' dedication".
At the request of the developer, who wIst~di to discuss this
r~tter with his partner, Trustee Aher~, seconded by Trustee
Soderman, withdrew the amendment to the m~in motion and to the
amended motion.
The above matter was referred to the regular meeting September
15, 1970.

Trustee Furst reported he will hope to have a meeting
September 9th to discuss the TOPICS application, Crawford,
Bunte and Rodin Consulting Serviees and other matters.
PUBLIC WORKS COMMITI%E
Trustee Furst stated the Weller Creek program has been
adequately evaluated in the newspaper on what is being con-
templated. There will be a meeting September, 9th of the
Drainage and Clean Streams Commission.
