MEETING OF THE MAYOR
AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
March 28, 1978
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Krause called the meeting to order at 7:39 P.M.
INVOCATION
The invocation was given by Trustee Wattenberg.
ROLL CALL
Present upon roll call: Mayor Krause Trustees Floros
Hendricks Murauskis
Wattenberg
Absent: Trustees Minton Richardson
Mayor Krause announced the public hearing for the proposed
use of revenue sharing for Fire Department salaries for the
1978-79 fiscal year was open, inviting comments from the
audience. With no questions or statement from the audience,
the Mayor closed the public hearing.
The Mayor addresssed the negotiating tea~ for the Mount
Prospect Fire Department. Members of the team were
Lt. D. Reynolds, Firefighters Del Ulreich and Will Baas.
Lt. Reynolds requested a status report from the Mayor
relative to the negotiations to that point.
Mayor Krause stated that an offer had been made at the last
negotiations meeting for a 4% increase in pay plus ce~tain'
fringe benefits, which was unacceptable to the Fire
Department.
Members of the team then requested clarification of the
poIicy (which had been negotiated by a previous Board) concerning
reimbursement for sick days not taken at a rate of 50% of the
normal salary, which had been eliminated from the proposed
budget.
Trustee Minton arrived at $:48 P.M.
Mayor Krause stated that the elimination of the subject sick
pay benefit had been an administrative recommendation noting
than an alternate plan had been suggested that would reimburse
o an employee for untaken sick days at the time of retirement or
resignation, following l0 years of service.
Members of the Board participated in discussion relative to
other benefits requested by the Fire Department
Mayor Krause recessed the meeting for Executive Session
at 8:50 P.M.
Mayor Krause resumed the meeting at 9:30 P.M.
The Village Board proposed a 5% increase in pay plus
certain fringe benefits, not to include the present sick
pay reimbursement policy.
The negotiating team stated the offer was unacceptable to
them in that it constituted a reduction of 1/2 of 1% from
the latest package offered by the Village Board at a previous
negotiation meeting.
Trustee Wattenberg, seconded by Trustee Murauskis, moved to
adjourn the meeting.
