MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
June 26, 1979
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Krause called the. meeting to order at 8:08 P.M.
INVOCATION
The invocation was given by Trustee Wattenberg.
ROLL CALL

Mayor Krause noted that this Special m&eting of the Board of Trustees
of the Village of Mount Prospect had been called pursuant to proper
notice, a copy of said notice is attached to these minutes; that said
notice was posted at the Public Safety Building, st the Clerk's Office,
and that copies of the notice had been mailed to the media and to
the Village Board. ·
Mayor Krause declared the Public Itearing to consider whether bonds
should be issued to pay any and all costs and expenses connected
with the acquisition of a portion of the facilities of the Prospect
\
Meadows Water Company and the construction .of substantial additions
to and improvements of such facilities in order to provide special
services to Village of Mount Prospect Speeia! Service Area Number 1,'

The following residents presented questions relative to the proposed
---- acquisition of the Prospect Meadows ~,'ater Company and the expenses
to be incurred:
William Sehmidt, 625 Albion' Lane
Hal Ross, 517 N. Emerson
Mr. & Mrs. Obrik~t, 628 Albion Lane
Merrill Cotten, 2710 Briarwood Drive, West
Mr. Pete Speer, of Paul D. Spear and Associates, answered questions
relative to the bonds.
Mayor Krause stated that the residents could file an objection to the
proposed acquisition with the Clerk's Office within 60 d~ys from
June 26, 1979.
Trustee Richardson, seconded by Trustee Floros, moved that the
Village Board finds it in the bes[ interest of the Village and
Village of Mount Prospect Special Service Area No. !, that the pro, oct
proceed and that bonds should be issued in the amount of $220,000.00
for a period of not more than 20 years at an interest rate of not more
than 8%.

Trustee Richardson, seconded by Trustee Murauskis, moved to
adjourn the Public Hearing.

The Public Hearing was declared closed at 8:40 P.M.
Mayor Krause presented the nmmes of four residents for Board
consideration for appointment to various Commissions.
Trustee Murauskis, seconded by Trustee Miller, moved to concur
with the recommendation to appoint George Van Deem, 1306 Quail Walk,
to the Zoning Board of Appeals, with the term to expire in 1980.

Motion carried.
Trustee Miller, seconded by Trustee Richardson, moved to concur
with the appointment of A1 Beckstrom, 511 S. Owen, to the Fire and
Police Commission, with the term to expire in 1982.

Motion carried.
Trustee Murauskis, seconded by Trustee Richardson, moved to
concur in'the appointment of Thomas l~cGovern, 200 S. Pine Street,
to the Planning Commission, term to expire in 1981.

Motion carried.
Trustee Farley, seconded by Trustee Richardson, moved to concur
in the appointment of Cornelius A. Drinkwaard, 605 S. Owen, to
the Planning Commission, term to expire in 1983.

Nays: None
Motion carried.
Trustee Richardson, as Chairm'~n of the Legislative/Judicary
Committee, requested Board concurrence with certain legislation
pending in Springfield that would effect municipalities.
Trustee Richardson, seconded by Trustee Murauskis, moved to
support the defeat of Senate Bill 362 (which Bill would amend
the Police Pension laws by increasing costs to taxpayers).

Motion carried.
Trustee Richardson, seconded by Trustee Murauskis, moved to
support House Bill 1877 (which Bill would permit involuntary
annexation of property in excess of 60 acres wholly surrounded
by a municipality).

he Board went into an Executive Session at 8:50 P.~,~. for
the purpose of discussing pending litigation.
The meeting was reconvened at 9:45 P.M. and roll call was
taken.

Absent: Trustee Wattenberg
Trustee Miller, seconded by Trustee Farley, moved to adjourn the
meeting.
