RESOLUTION NO. 37-63
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS ESTABLISHING SPECIFICATIONS FOR
ALLEYS WITHIN SAID VILLAGE.
WHEREAS, Section 9.104 of the Municipal Code of Mount Prospect
as amended provides that the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Mount Prospect may establish specifications for alley pavement,
and
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of said Village have heretofore
established same by Resolution No. 24-57, and
WHEREAS, it is desirable that said specifications be amended,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois:
Section 1. That for all alley pavement installed subsequent
to the date of the adoption of this Resolution either of the following
specifications shall be followed:

1. "Pavements in alleys, may be constructed of
concrete; shall be no less than sixteen (16)
feet in width measured from edges of concrete.
Concrete shall be a minimum of eight (8)
inches in thickness and shall be constructed
on a firm subgrade. The pavement shall have
an inverted crown draining toward the center
at no less than one-quarter inch (1/4") per
foot and proper longitudinal drainage. Where
required by local conditions, adequate sewers,
manholes, and catch basins shall be provided
to assure proper drainage."

2. "Alley pavements may be constructed of pozzolanic
base course with a bituminous concrete wearing
course. Such alley pavement shall be constructed
the width of the alley right of way less one (1)
foot on each side. Alley shall be constructed
with an inverted crown of not less than four
inches (4") and a minimum longitudinal center
gradient of five (5) inches per 100 feet. Where
required by local conditions adequate sewers,
manholes and catchbasins shall be provided to
assure proper drainage.
Pozzolanic base course shall conform to specifica-
tion for Pozzolanic Base Course Type A of the State
of Illinois, Departm ent of Public Works and
Buildings, Division of Highways.

Bituminous Concrete Wearing Course shall
conform to specifications for Bituminous
Concrete Binder and Surface Courses, Fine
Dense Graded Aggregate Type Subclass 1-11
of the State of Illinois, Department of
Public Buildings, Division of Highways.
The following thickness of Pozzolanic
Base Course and of bituminous concrete
binder and surface courses shall apply in
residentially and commercially zoned
districts.
Residential Zoned District
6" Pozzolanic Base Course
1" Binder Course
1" Surface Course
Commercially Zoned District
7" Pozzolanic Base Course
1 1/2" Binder Course
1" Surface Course
Bituminous concrete binder and surface courses
shall be placed in one pass for the full width
of the alley pavement so as to avoid a joint
in the center of the alley."
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval according to law.
PASSED and APPROVED this FIRST day of OCTOBER, 1963.
