RESOLUTION NO. 20-65
RESOLUTION OPPOSING APPLICATION FOR VARIATION
WHEREAS, There is presently pending an application before

the Cook County Zoning Board of Appeals, known as R""lP ~ No. 912,
wherein the applicant seeks a variation to reduce the setback re-
quirement from 15 feet to 2 feet for a sign to be located at a Fire-
stone Tire Store on the west side of Elmhurst Road approximately
300 feet north of Rand Road; and
WHEREAS, The subject property is located directly across
Rand Road from Randhurst, a regional shopping center located within
the municipal limits of the Village of Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, The proposed variation, if granted, would be
highly detrimental to the public health, safety and welfare in that
it would permit the construction of a sign in such close proximity
to the right-of-way of Rand Road and Elmhurst Road (Rte.83) as to
constitute a traffic hazard; and
WHEREAS, The subject property is characterized by the
Randhurst property on which buildings and signs have been set back
substantial distances from Rand Road and Elmhurst Road (Rte. 83); and
WHEREAS, the development of the area in the vicinity of
Randhurst and the intersection of Elmhurst Road and Rand Road
directly affect the future planning and growth of the Village of
Mount Prospect and the proposed variation would not be consistent
with the development of the neighborhood and would be highly detri-
mental to the Village of Mount Prospect.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT:

SECTION ONE: That the Village of Mount Prospect does hereby
object to the application for a variation under Document No. 912
now pending before the Cook County Board of Appeals;
SECTION TWO: The Village of Mount Prospect hereby requests
that the Cook County Board of Appeals deny the said application as
being detrimental to the public safety;

SECTION THREE: That the Village Clerk of the Village of
Mount Prospect is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this
resolution of objection with the County Clerk of Cook County and
with the Secretary of the Zoning Board of Appeals of Cook County;
SECTION FOUR: This resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in the
manner provided by law.
