HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 33-66 08/30/1966 'I . , ~ '.: .. ,.-.., RESOLUTION NO. 33-66 A RESOWTION OPPOSING THE POSTED MAXIMUM SPEED LIMJ:TS PLACED ON KENSINGTON ROAD BY THE STATE OF ILLIK) IS. WHEREAS, during the month of July, 1966, the Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois, was informed by the Illinois Division of Highways Department that certain ma.ximum speed limits are to be posted on Kensington Road within the corporate limits of Mount Prospect, to wit: 50 m.p.h. on that portion east of Rand Road on Kensington Road and 40 m.p.h. on that portion west of Rand Road on Kensington Road; and, WHEREAS, the Accident Prevention Bureau of Mount Prospect Police Department has studied said proposal and has determined said maximum limits heretofore mentioned are excessive for the conditions that exist along said Kensington Road; and, WHEREAS, in fact the properties abutting Kensington Road are that of a major shopping center, Randhurst Shopping Center, many single family residences, an intersection involving two major thoroughfares, Rand Road and Illinois Highway #83, and Prospect High School; and, WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect have reviewed that matter herein and have determined that said maximum speed limits on Kensington Road within the corporate limits of Mount Prospect are excessive; ?l)W, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDmT AND OOARD OF TIDSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF KlUNT PROSPECT: SECTION ONE: That the maximum speed limit of 50 m.p.h. on Kensington Road, east of Rand Road, within the corporate limits of Mount Prospect is excessive. SECTION TWJ: That the maximum speed limit of 40 m.p.h. on Kensington Road west of Rand Road, within the corporate limits of Mount Prospect is excessive. SECTION THREE: That the maximum speed limit on Kensington Road within the corporate limits of Mount Prospect is recommended by the corporate authorities to be 35 m.p.h. SECTION FOUR: That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a certified copY' of this Resolution to the Illinois Division of Highways. SECTION FIVE: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage in the manner provided by law. AYES: 6 NAYS: 0 PASSED this 30th dq of AUGUST, 1966.
