RESOLlJrION NO. 16-67
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF HOUSE BILL 474 FOR THE
D1PROVEMENT OF WELLER CREEK
WHEREAS. the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount
Prospect are concerned with the upgrading of Weller Creek downstream and
through the Village of Mount Prospect to alleviate flooding conditions and
conditions creating noxious odors and nuisances; and
WHEREAS. the Department of Public Works and Buildings. Waterways
Division. of the State of Illinois. has prepared certain drawings for
completion of a five-stage program for the improvement of Weller Creek; and
WHEREAS. Stage I has been canpleted in prior years; and
WHEREAS. House Bill 474 is for the appropriation of funds for the
improvement of Stage II and Stage III including. among other things. the
necessary runaround at the junction of Weller Creek and the Chicago and
North Western Railroad right of way; and
WHEREAS. the completion of Stage II and Stage III would greatly
alleviate the flooding conditions, noxious odors, and nuisances arising
from Weller Creek through and about the Village of Mount Prospect;
NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT. COOK COUNTY. ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That having fully considered House Bill 474 for the
improvement of Weller Creek Stage II and Stage III now pending before the
Illinois Legislature. this Board fully supports the passage into law of
House Bill 474.
SECTION TWO: That jmmediately upon passage and approval of this
Resolution, the Village Clerk of the Village of Mount Prospect be and is
hereby authorized and directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to
the respective Representatives of the Third District, to the Senator
representing the Third District. to the Sp~aker of the House, to
Representative Parkhurst. Chainnan of the Appropriations Cormnittee. and to
the Lieutenant Governor.
SECTION THREE: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
