HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 29-67 06/29/1967 c ~ .....,.., RESOLtmON No. 29-67 RESOLUI'ION ESTABLISHING THE MOUNT PROSPECT DRAINAGE AND CLEAN STREAlvrs COMMISSION WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect are aware of the difficulties occurring and resulting from inadequate and improper flow of storm water through and about the Village of Mount Prospect at various times; and \~lliREAS, at a special meeting of the President and Board of Trustees held on the 13th day of June, 1967, several interested citizens appeared before the Board asking relief from the abundance of storm water back-up in and about the corporate limits of the Village of Mount Prospect; and WHEREAS, the factural situation dictates that same positive action must be stimulated and indoctrinated with reference to Weller CreeK;and ~~REAS, the President and Board of Trustees did at-that meeting of June 13th establish June 27, 1967 as a date certain to meet with several I interested citizens with regard to this problem; and , I \VHEREAS, on June 27, 1967 a j oint meeting of the President and Board :1 i of Trustees did meet with several interested citizens and determined that the 1,1; "i ,Ii i' establishment of a citizens committee be formed with certain Village officials :1 I! :i JI to be encompassed in said comnission; and 11il "~I! I I I OF THE VILLAGE OF r~OUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: I, ~lliEREAS, said commission shall have for its purpose and goal the NOW 'lBEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES SECTION 1: There is hereby established a citizens commission which shall be known as THE DRAINAGE AND CLEAN STREAlV1S COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT for the purpose of establishing a plan and necessary I' steps to implement said plan to alleviate the drainage problem within the corporate limits of the Village of Mount Prospect, and to further attain the I} ".' .~.4 .. .~ c ""'" ."" status of Weller Creek to operate as 8. clean stream. Said commission shall make its findings and recommendations to the President and Board of Trustees in the manner prescribed herein. SECTION 2: The membership of the Drainage and Clean Streams Comm- I ission shall be canposed of nine (9) residents of the Village of Mount Prospect from among which one shall be elected Chairman. The appointments to this commission shall be made by the President with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees and in the determination of such appointment, consideration shall be given to the appointees' geographical location so that the entire Village of Mount Prospect will have representation on said commission. The term of office to this commission shall be for a period of three (3) years. However, members appointed at the onset shall be made as follows: Three (3) for a three-year term; three (3) for a two-year term; and three (3 ) for a one-year term, successors to be appointed for three (3) year terms. In additiod I to the nine (9) members of the commission, the Village Engineer shall serve as an ex-officio member. The Village Trustees who, from time to time, shall be Chairman of the Public Works Committee shall also serve as an ex-officio member to this commission. SECI'ION 3: Meetings: The Drainage and Clean Stream Commission shall I, Ii have a regular monthly meeting. The second Wednesday, at the hour of 8: 00 P. M. ,Ii of each month is herein designated as the regular meeting date of this comnissio~. The place of said regular meetings shall be the Engineering Department wi thin !i the Public ""orks Building of the Village of Mount Prospect. A special meeting! ii may be called by the then presiding Chairman or any three (3) members of the 'I canm1ssion upon forty-eight (48) hour written notice. Minutes of all meetings of the Drainage and Clean Streams Commission shall be kept in an orderly manner. Said commission shall make a report on its progress and finding, and it shall make its recommendations to the'President and Board of Trustees regularly, but not less than every three months. SECTION 4: The Drianage and Clean Streams Commission of the Village of Mount Prospect shall be operative until such time as the purposes for -2- =~ .,-.. ~ .~ ""'" which it is intended have been achieved.
