RESOLUTION NO. 31-67
A RESOLtJrION IN OPPOSITION TO THE CONrEMPLATID IMPROVEMENT OF
GOLF ROAD (HIGHWAY 58) BY THE STATE OF ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
fvbunt Prospect are aware of the contemplated improvement of Golf Road,.
Highway 58, by the State of Illinois from Wolf Road extending west to
Hi Lusi Avenue; and
WHEREAS, said contemplated improvement will result in the con-
struction and installation of a six inch insurmountable median strip with
a l1mited number of points of transverse; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
fJbunt Prospect have been contacted and have cCJl1llUl1icated with several
interested residents in the area with regard to the ultimate effects of
such improvement; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees have knowledge of the
manner in which the median strip in Rand Road, U.S. 12, having been con-
structed and installed by the use of a rumble strip; and
WHEREAS, the flow of traffic on said Rand Road, U. S. 12, has
been conducted in an orderly fashion as a result thereof; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees have determined that
the improvement of Golf Road in a roamer s1milar to the improvement of
Rand Road relating to the median strip would best serve the interests of
all concerned; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees dean that the best
interests of the residents of the Village of Mount Prospect, and in the
interest of safety of all motorists on or about Golf Road would best be
served ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENr AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Highway Department of the State of Illinois
reconsider its contemplated improvement of the median strip to be
installed on Golf Road, Highway 58, known as Proj ect U-UG-151 (19), from
Wolf Road westward to a point near Hi lusi Avenue.
SECTION TWO: That the Highway Department of the State of Illinois
consider improving the median strip on Golf Road by the installation of a
rumble strip as opposed to the contemplated six inch insurmountable median
strip as presently pa.armed.
SECTION THREE: That the six inch insurmountable median strip
is not obj ectionable at the intersections of Wolf Road, Mount Prospect
Road, and Highway 83 with Golf Road.
SECTION FOUR: That the President and Board of Trustees are
opposed to the contemplated six inch insurmountable median strip as
presently contemplated by the prel1minary plans of the Highway Department
of the State of Illinois, known as Project U-UG-15l (19).

SECTION FIVE: That j,mnediately upon passage and approval of this
Resolution the Village Clerk of the Village of Mount Prospect be and is hereby i
authorized and directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to the i
respective offices of Francis S. Lorenz, Director of Public Works and Buildingsj
300 North State Street, SUite 1005, Chicago, Illinois, and George T. March,
District Engineer of the Illinois Division of Highways, 300 North State Street,
Chicago, Illinois.
SECTION SIX: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval in the mamer provided by law.
