I hereby nominate the following individual for reappointment as Chair to the BOFPC:

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WEEK
SEPTEMBER 14 - 18, 2009
WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce works with the businesses,
merchants and industry to advance the civic, economic, industrial, professional and cultural
life of the Village of Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, Chambers of Commerce have contributed to the civic and economic life of
Illinois for 171 years since the founding of the Galena Chamber of Commerce in 1838; and
WHEREAS, this year marks the 82nd anniversary of the founding of the Mount Prospect
Chamber of Commerce, the Village's leading free enterprise support organization; and
WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce and its members provide citizens
with a strong business environment that increases employment, the retail trade and
commerce and industrial growth in order to make the Village of Mount Prospect a better
place to live.
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce encourage the growth of existing industries, services
and commercial firms, and encourages new firms and individuals to locate in the Village of
Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois is the home to international Chambers of Commerce, the
Great Lakes Regional Office of the U. S. Chamber of Commerce, the Illinois Chamber of
Commerce and more than 456 local Chambers of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, this marks the 94th anniversary of the Illinois Association Chamber of Commerce
Executives (IA CCE), a professional development organization for the Chamber of Commerce
professionals.
NOW, THEREFORE, /, Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
proclaim September 14 - 18, 2009 as
"MOUNT PROSPECT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WEEK"
and call its significance to the citizens of Mount Prospect..

PROCLAMATION
"DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH"
OCTOBER 2009
WHEREAS, violence against women and children continues to become a more prevalent
problem; and
WHEREAS, the problems of domestic violence are not confined to any group of people, but
cross all economic, gender, racial and societal barriers and are supported by societal
indifference; and
WHEREAS, the crime of domestic violence violates an individual's privacy, dignity, security and
humanity through the systematic use of physical, emotional, sexual, psychological and economic
control and/or abuse; and
WHEREAS, the impact of domestic violence is wide-ranging, directly affecting families and
society as a whole; and
WHEREAS, it is battered women themselves who have been at the forefront of efforts to bring
peace and equity to the home; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting to set aside a special time to bring this issue to the attention of all
residents of the Village of Mount Prospect so every segment of our society can work together to
better address domestic violence.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Irvana K. Wilks Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
proclaim the month of October as
"DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH"
in the Village of Mount Prospect, and I encourage residents to join forces with victim service
programs, criminal justice officials and concerned citizens across the country to raise the public
awareness of domestic violence issues.
