AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING F'OR 'Ein: GRADING, CURBING AND
PAVING WITH OONCRETE AND OTHERWISE IMPROVING PROSPECT MANOR
AVENUE FROM NORTHWEST HIGHWAY TO HIGHLAND STREET, IN THE VILLAGE
OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COUNTY OF COOK AND STATE OF ILLINOIS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of

4 The width of the roadways of said streets between said
points. are hereby established as follows:
On all streets except Northwest Highway twenty-four (24)
feet, measured between roadwa.y faces of the ourbs.
On Northwest Highway sixteen (l6) feet and six (6)
inches, measured from roadway face of ourb to edge of existing
pavement.
On alleys, the full width of alleys, measured between
roadway faces of the curbs.

The crown line of the pavement to be constructed shall
coincide with the center line of said street.
On each side of the roadwaysof said streets and alleys
between said points there shall be constructed a Portland cement
concrete integral curb, except across the roadways intersecting
streets and alleys. Said integral curb at its top surface and
at the gutter line shall conform to the elevations as shown on
the drawings hereto attached and made a part of this ordinance.
Said Portland cement concrete integral curb shall be constructed
as hereinafter provided.
The roadway of Prospect Manor Avenue and the roadways of
all intersecting streets and alleysextend~ fro. the curb lines
to the street lines of said streets shall be s() graded that after
the same are tho%oughly compa,c"ted by puddling and rolling with
a roller of five (5) tons weigbt and that after the pavement
herein described is placed thereon, tbe surface of tbe finished
pavement at the crown line and the gutter line of said street
between aaidpoints shall be at the elevations 80S shown on the
drawings hereto attached and made a part of this ordinance.
A transverse section of the finished surface of the pave-
ment shall be an arc of a circle passing through the upper road-
way eelse of the ptter flag and the elevation of the center of
said finish" roadway at every. part of the roadway of said
Prospect Manor Avenue. In all intersecting alleys between said
points and the street line, the surfaceof the finished pavement
adjoining the curbing shall be one (1) inch below the top of
the curbing.
The finished. surface pf the pavement at intersecting
alleys extended sba1l extend from the gutter line by a general
slope upward to meet the s~reet line in such a manner that the
top s~face of the curbs on both sides of said alley returns
Shall rise at the rate of one (1) inch vertical to elght (8)
feet horizontal and the point of intersection of the center line
of said alley with the street line shall be two (2) inches above
the top surface, of the opposite curb and cross sections of said
finished surface generally shall be arcs of -Vertical circles
Which reapecti vely decrease in curvature with tbe di.stance from
the street line, becoming a straigbt line at the ptter line.
At street intersection the grade of said top surface
of said pavement shall be modified to such a degree only as is
necessary to make the top surface of said intersecting roadway
correspond.
The parkWays between the backs of the curbs and the
street lines, except the space where there are existing side-
walks, shall begTade4 evenly from the top of the curb to a
point one (1) inch below the sidewalk, wbere sidewalks eBist.
Where no sidewalk exists the parkWay shall be graded level
from the top of the curb for a distance of five (5) feet away
from the curb and thence shall slope up or down uniformly to
meet the existing ground at the street line.
ESTABLISHED GRADES:
The line of the top surface of the curb, when constructed
or said lines extended and the gutter line (being th~ line of

top of the finished pavement at the crown line, shall be as
shown on the drawings hereto attached and made a part of this
ordinance, said elevations being given in feet and decimals
thereof above Village Datum, at each of the several locations
specified. From each point specified for one street, the line
of the top of the curb (or said line extended across the exten-
sions of intersecting streets) shall follow a uniform grade to
the next specified point for the same street in either direction.
From each point specified for one street, the gutter line aid
the crown line of pavement respectively, shall foll'" a uiform

Catchbasin covers herein provided for shallbe .imilar to
and equal to catchbasin cover now in place at the southeast
corner of Prospect Kanor Avenue and Isabella lti..t in the
Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois.
storm water inlet covers herein provided for shall be
constructed as shown on the drawing hereto attached and made a
part of this ordinance.
The expansion joints hereinafter provided for shall be
of similar construction and of equal quality to the one known
as 'Ilastite' as manufactured by the Philip Carey Company of
C1ncinnati, Ohio.
The steel protection plates hereinafter provided for
shall be similar and equal in quality to those known as "Truscon
Armor' plates as manufactured by the Truscon Company of Youngs-
town, Ohio.
The entire improvement shall be constructed in a complete
and workmanlike manner and in accordance with this ordinance
and the plats and drawings hereto attached and made a part of
this ordinance.

Gentlemen:
The Board of Local Improvements of the Village of Kount
Prospect, County of Cook and State of Illinois, herewith sub-
mits an ordinance entitled:
Kanor Avenue;
By grading said streets and alley~' intersections and
laying upon the roadways thereof a steel reinforced concrete
pavement seven (7) inches in thickness, provided with cement
concrete integral curbs, except across intersecting roadways;
constructing and connecting inlets; adjusting catchbasins
and manholes, together with all neoessary work and appurtenances,
as more fully described in said draft of ordinance he~ewith
submitted.
And the said Board of Local Improvements hereb, recommends
to your honorable body the making of said improvement in extent,
nature; character, locality and description as set forth in
said draft of the ordinance herewith transmitted, and also

And the said Board of Local Improvements also herewith
transmits to your honorable body an estimate of the President of
the Board of Local Improvements of the cost of said improvement,

assessment therefor and such other costs as is by law provided.

of Said Village.
Gentlemen:
The Board of Local Improvements of said Village, having
presented to said President and Board of Trustees a recommenda-
tion that the hereinafter named streets shall be improTed with
a conneoted system of street pavement and appurtenances between
the points or lines stated as follows:
PROSPECT MANOR AVENUE from the northeasterly edge of the
existing concrete pavement on Northwest Highway to the southerly
street line of Highland Street, and the roadways of all inter-
secting alleys and streets (between said points) extending from
the curb line to the street line of Prospect Manor Avenue,
By grading said streets and alley intersections and
laying upon the roadways thereof a steel reinforced concrete
p&Tement seven (7) inches in thickness, provided with cement
concrete integral curbs, except across intersecting roadways;
constructing and connecting inlets; adjusting catchbasins and
manholes, together with all necessary work and appurtenances,
as more fully described in the draft of the ordinanoe providing
for said improvement submitted to the President and Board of
Trustees with such recommendation.
I herewith submit an estimate of the cost of such local
improvement, including all labor, material and other lawful
expenses attending the same, and also including a sum not exceed-i
ing six percent (6%) of the cost to be applied toward the cost I
