ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
Executive Conference Room, Village Hall
Thursday, June 18, 2009
8:00 a.m.
The meeting of the Economic Development Commission (EDC) of the Village of Mount Prospect was
held on Thursday, June 18, 2009 in the third floor Executive Conference Room in the Village Hall, 50
South Emerson Street, Mount Prospect, Illinois.
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman David Lindgren called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. Commissioners, Tom Lowe, Skip
Robertson and Ben Trapani were present. Commissioner Ken Fritz was absent. Also present were Bill
Cooney, Director of Community Development, Brian Simmons, Deputy Director of Community
Development, Clare O'Shea, Senior Planner; Maura EI Metennani, Public Information Officer, Jim
Uszler, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Irvana Wilks. State
Representative Mark Walker was also in attendance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the April 16, 2009 meeting were reviewed and approved unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
Development Update
Mr. Cooney provided an overview of the status of several developments throughout the village.
NEW BUSINESS
Representative Mark Walker
Mr. Walker stated that he was in attendance to learn about economic issues facing Mount Prospect and
to provide a brief update on issues he is working on at the State level. The commission provided Mr.
Walker with their views on things that the State could do to help businesses.

Recap of Kensinaton Business Center meetina
Mr. Cooney informed the Commission that one of the two scheduled KBC meetings was cancelled due
to a lack of response from tenants in the business park. The commission discussed holding a meeting
in the future for the tenants to provide them with an update on Randhurst Village and other
developments in town. Mr. Cooney stated that there were approximately 75 brokers at the Wednesday
event and that he had the opportunity to present them with an economic development update.
Shop Local Campaian
Ms. EI Metennani provided the Commission with an overview of a new promotional effort that staff has
been working on and would be unveiling in the near future. The Shop Local Campaign would include
free and/or low cost advertising opportunities to the local business community and stress the
importance of shopping locally to our residents. The program would include internet, banner and video
options. The Commission expressed their support of these efforts and requested that staff keep them
informed of the progress.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
Chairman Lindgren indicated that he had no new information to share.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 a.m.
