BE.IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPEOT, ILLIIGIS: -
SECTION 1. No person, firm or corporation shall conduct
any business, occupa.tion, calling or employment hereinafter speci-
fied within the Village of Mount Prospect, without first having
secured a license so to do.
SEOTION 2. All persons, firms or co~porations conduct-
ing or engaging in any of the following businesses, occupations,
callings or employments, are hereby required to Obtain a license
and pay in advance to the Village Olerk therefor, the amounts set
opposite thereto, for the periods hereinafter specified, to-wit:

VILLAGE PRESIDENT TO GRANT AND MAY REVOKE
SECTION 3. In all cases where licenses are required to
be procured, such license shall be granted by the Village Presi-
dent, and attested by the Village Clerk, except where provision
is expressly made for the granting of licenses by some other
officer in the Village. The Village President shall also have
power to revoke for cause, any license granted by him.
SUBJECT TO ORDINANCES
SECTION 4~ All licenses shall be subject to all the or-
dinances which may be in force at the time of issuing thereof,
and all which may be subsequently passed by the Village Board.
APPLICATION - AFFIDAVITS
SECTION 5. All licenses authorized to be issued a.nd re
quired to be procured in and by this ordiaance, which are gra.nted
by the, Village President, shall be issue~ by the Village Clerk
upon instruction or direction from the Village President so to
do. Written application for such license shall be made to the
Village Clerk in each case upon blanks furnished by him, except
where otherwise specifically provided fort end a new application
shall be made upon the expiration o~ e~y license issued, before
a new license shall be issued. In case the ordinances of the
Village, or in a,bsence thereof, the Village President requires an
investigation on r!ceipt of the application, the Village Clerk
shall, at once, proceed to make such investigation of the appli-
cant as is required by the ordinance of the Village of Mount
Prospect or shall transmit such application to the proper depart-
ment for such investigation. If such report recommends the
granting of the license, the Village Clerk shall notify the appli-
cant and upon payment of the license fee and the filing of a bond
in acO) rdance with the ordinance of the Villa.ge of Mount Prospect,
when bond is required, the Village Clerk, if authorized to do so
by the Village President, shall issue to the applicant a license
bearing the seal of the Vill~ge of Mount Prospect for the period
for which payment is made.
TERM OF LICENSE
SECTION 6. No license shaJ.l be granted for a less period
nor for a longer period than one year, except where otherwise
specifieally provided herein, a,nd every license shall expire on
the 30th. day of April, following the date of its issuance. No
license shall be issued for any period of time less than the un-
expired year, and at the pro rata amount of the full annual
license fee except otherwise specifica.lly provided. The fee for
ea,ch licens~ issued shall be collected in full at the time of the
issuance and delivery thereof.
NO REBATE
SECTION 7. In no event shftll any rebate or refund be
made of any license fee or part thereof, by reason of the death of
the licensee, or by reaSon of non-user of the license or by reason
of a change of location or occupation of such licensee.

NOTICE OF TERlv!INA.TION
SECTION 8. If a license extend beyond one month it
sh~ll be the duty. of ~he Village Clerk from ten to twenty'days
prl?r to the termlnatlon of the license period to cause a written
notlce to be mailed to each licensee, directing the attention of
such licensee to the fact that a new license will be required'on
the day following the expiration of his existing license and
directing his attention a~so to the amount of the l1cens~ fee
and to the penalty for failure to procure a license 1naccordance
with the provisions of the ordinance of the Village governing the
issuance of such license; provided, however, that failure on the
I part of the Village Clerk to cause such notice to be mailed to
each licensee shall not. be deemed a defense to a suit brought by
the Village of Mount Prospect to recover the penalty for a viChla-
tion of the ordinance under which the license is required to be
secured.

SECTION 9. Hereafter no license or permit shall be issue
to any person, firm or cor9orc:tion unless such person, firm or
corpore,tion discharges and pays to the Village of Mount Prospect
all indebtedness then due from such 'Jerson, firm or corpor2tion.

TRANSFER OF LICENSE
SECTION 11. No license r,,:;r;::n ted under this ordinance shall
,be assigned or tr2nsferred,except as hereinafter provided, nor
shall any such license authorize any ".;lerson to do business or cct

gHANGE OF LOCATION - NOTICE TO VILLAGE OLERK
. SEOTION 13.. If any person or corpor?.tion licensed by th
V1llage to carryon, engage in, or conduct any business or occu-
pa.tion required to be licensed by this ordinance and heving
designated to his or its license a particular pl~ce in which
business so licensed is to be carried on, engaged in, or con-
ducted, shall, before the expiratfon of such license change the
location of such place of business, he or it shall fbrthwith
notify the Village Olerk of such fact, and no business shall be
carried on, engaged in, or conducted, under the authority of
such license at such new location, until notice of such change
has been given as herein provided.
LICENSE TO BE POSTED
SEOTION 14. Every license granted b~ the Village Presi-
dent for the purpose of conducting any business or occupation re-
quired by this ordinance to be licensed, and having designated
therein the particular room, store, office or place in which such
business so licensed is to be conducted, shall be posted, and
at all times in a conspicuous place, so that the same may be
easily seen, upon the wall of the principal room or office of the
store or place in which such licensed business or occupation is
carried on; and when such license shall have expired, it shall be
removed from such place in \"lhich it has been posted and no licens
which is not in force and effect sha.ll be permitted to remain
i posted upon the walloI' upon any part of any room, store, office
or place of business, a.fter the geriod of such license he,s ex-
pired.
CLEANLINESS OF STALL
SEOTION 15. Every person who is the owner, lessee, or
\ occupant of any room, stall or place where any meat, fish or vege
table designed or held for human food shall be stored or kept &1'
shall be held or offered for sale shall put ftnd keep such room,
stall or place and its appurtenances in a clean and wholesome
condition.
CONTENTS OF PAOKAGE TO BE UNIFORM
SEOTION 16. No person or corporation shall, within the
Village, sell or offer for sale, or have in his posseSSion for th
purpose of selling or offering for sale, any basket, box, barrel,
bag or other package of fruit, berries or vegetables of any k~nd,
the contents of which are not of uniform quality and size through
"put.
SALE S IN BULK EXOEPTED
SEOTION 17. This ordinance shall not apply to sales in
bulk, ei therby the ca.r load, by the bushel or otherwise, where
such fruits or vegetables axe not sold in boxes, bags, or ~her
packages or parcels.

DETECTION OF OFFENDERS
SECTION 18. Any person who shall have purchased any
fruits, vegetables or berries sold in vlblat~on of the provisions
of this ordinance may produce the package or parcel containing
the same at the office of the department of health, and furnish
therewith an affidavit duly subscribed and sworn to showing that
said parcel was purchased within twenty-four hours from the time
it is so produced and showing that the parcel as produced contains
, all of the fruit, berries or vegetables and none other, which it
: contained at the time of its purchase; and if the departmen.t of
health shall find by measuring, weighing or inspecting the same
tha.t it is short in quantity or weight, or that the sarne is not
of uniform quantity, or was otherwise sold in violation of the
provi4ions of this ordinance, it shall be and it is hereby made
the duty of the department of health to cause the arrest of the
person so violating~this ordinance, or begin suit against such
vendor to recover the penalty her ein provided fo r such vielat ion.
UNvVHOLESOME VEGETABLES AND FRUIT
SECTION 19. No person or corporation shall bring or
cause to be brought into the Village any decayed or unwholesome
vegetables or fruit intended to be consumed or sold or offered
for sale for human food, nor shall any person or corporation keep
or store in the Village any decayed or unwhmlesome vegetables or
fruit.
IMPURE OR ADULTERA~ED WATER, DRUGS OR FOOD
SECT~ON 20. No person or corporation, or any agent or
employe thereof, shall keep for sale, offer for sale, or exchange
or shall sell, or deliver, or expose for sale, any drugs not con-
forming to the rules and standards of United States pharmacopoeia,
or any water or liquids or foods which shall be impure, unwhole-
some or aetulterated or to which any harmful or injurious foreign
substance has been added.
SECTION 21. If any clause, sentence, paragraph, or part
of tlAs ordinance shall for any reason be adjudged by any co~rt of
competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such judgment shallnot af-
fect impair or invalidate the remainder of this ordinance, but
shali be confined in its operation to the clause, sentence, para-
graph or pal't thereof directly involved in the controversy in
whlch such judgment shall bave been rendered.
SECTION !!. Anjl person, firm or corporation who shall
violate any of the terms or provisions of , this ordinance, or w~o

SECTION 23. All ordinances or Darts of ordinances con-
flicting with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed
so far as they conflict herewith.

effect from and after its passage, ap~oval and publication ac-
cording to law.
