A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE REFERENDUM ACT
RELATIVE TO STATE MANDATES ON LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois has continuously imposed unfunded
state mandates on local government; and
WHEREAS, the cost of unfunded state mandates has placed financial
burdens on local governments; and
WHEREAS, the opportunity to provide services is best determined by
local officials; and
WHEREAS, the continued mandated programs from the State erodes
local control; and
WHEREAS, the Citizens of the Village of Mount Prospect as well as
citizens from each and every community in the State of Illinois
have direct access to local governments; and
WHEREAS, residents of Mount Prospect share the concern of local
elected officials relative to the cost for providing vital
services; and
WHEREAS, the General Assembly and Governor Edgar have provided an
opportunity for the people to speak this election year; and
WHEREAS, Public Act 87-0919 provides for an advisory non-binding
referendum to be place on the November 3, 1992 ballot.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Mount Prospect do hereby unconditionally support an affirmative
vote by the citizens of this community at the November 3, 1992
election.
SECTION TWO: That this Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner
provided by law.
AYES: Clowes, Corcoran, Floros, Hoefert, Wilks
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Busse
