AN ORDINANCE AMENDING "AN
ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE
OWNERSHIP, CONTROL and LI-
CENSING OF DOGS" BY ADDING
THERETO SECTION 3-A and 3-B
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1. That an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance
Relating to the .Ownership, Control andLlcensing of Dogs" passed
and approved on March 7, 1939, be and the same is hereby amended
by adding thereto Section 3~ and 3-B, as follows:
Section 3-A. Dogs running at large. Dogs
not permitted in :[I'ood Stores. No dog, whether
licensed or unlicensed, muzzled or not muzzled,
inoculated, or not inoculated against rabies,
shall be allowed upon the streets of the Village
of Mount Prospect, or in public places, such as
parks, hotels, restaurants, railroad depots,
theatres, public conveyances and the like, or
upon the property other than that of its owner
or possessor, unless upon a suitable, dependable
lead, not longer than 8 feet in length. No dog
whether on a leash or not shall be permitted
within any store where foodstuffs are sold.
Section 3-B~ Impounding. It shall be the
duty of all police officers in and for the vil-
lage of Mount Prospect to take up and cause to be
impounded any and all dogs r'WlIling at large upon
the streets of the Village of Mount Prospect, or
in public places, such as parks, hotels, restau-
rants, railroad depots, theat~es, public convey-
ances, and the like, .or upon the property other
than that of its owner or possessor, unless upon a
suitable, dependable lead, not longer than 8 feet
in length.
SECTION 2. Any person or per~ons who shall violate or
fail, nealect or refuse to comply wit~ the foregOing provisions
of this rdinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in a sum of
not less than ~'ive Dollars ($5.00), nor more than One Hundred
Dollars ($100.00) for each and every offense.

SECTION 3. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in con-
flict herewi th '-be -and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication,
according to law.
