CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Derek Steinweg called the March 04, 2009 Youth Commission meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. in the
first floor training room of the Police and Fire Headquarters, Mount Prospect, Illinois.

APPROV AL OF MINUTES
Daniel Milewski, seconded by Eric Logisz, moved to approve the minutes of the February 04, 2009 Youth
Commission meeting. Motion carried by unanimous approval.
PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE

VILLAGE COMMISSION / ORGANIZA TION MEETINGS
Chairman Derek Steinweg passed around the sign up sheet for members to choose a Village commission /
organization meeting to attend and report on youth related issues. Members reviewed the dates and signed up for
various meetings. Agendas for the Commission meetings are posted on the Village website. Members
encouraged to attend upcoming Village meetings.
Youth Commission members did not attend any additional Village meetings in February.
RECRUITMENT COMMITTEE

AlA Steven Polit discussed Lincoln Middle School students attending a recent Village Board meeting to discuss
Earth Day 60 sponsored by ComEd on March 27, 2009. Residents are encouraged to turn off unused lights from
8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. AlA Polit invited the Lincoln Middle School students to attend Youth Commission
meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
YOUTH COMMISSION LIQUOR ORDINANCE RECOMMENDATIONS
Chairman Derek Steinweg followed-up with Mayor Wilks regarding the previous Youth Commission liquor
ordinance recommendations sent to the Village Board. AlA Steven Polit discussed revisions to the ordinance.
YOUTH VIEW
Chairman Derek Steinweg and Daniel Milewski hosted the Youth View taping on "College Readiness" and Eric
Logisz and Nandini Roy hosted the Youth View taping on" Teen Driving."
Members discussed the topic of Internet Safety I Identity Theft for the next Youth View taping in April. Elza
Maloku and Emily Lindfors to host.
YOUTH RESOURCE CATALOG
Youth Commission members to update Youth Resource catalog. Updates to include email addresses and
websites when available. Members encouraged to have their updates completed by April meeting.
"STICK' EM UP!" ILCC PROJECT STICKER SHOCK EVENT
On April 2nd, 2009 the ILCC, as part of Project Sticker Shock, will be conducting a statewide event. Youth
Commission members to participate in the event with AI A Anthony Addante. Stickers and window decals will
be placed in Village liquor stores, grocery stores, gas stations, and other establishments where alcohol is sold.

NEW BUSINESS
YOUTH AND THE ECONOMY
NA Steven Polit brought up for discussion how area youth are dealing with the stress associated with today's
economy. Youth Commission members to reach out to youth in the community through school newspapers, the
Village newsletter, Downtown Merchant's Association etc. Elza Maloku and Emily Lindfors to head the project.
VILLAGE GREEN BOXES
NA David Schein advised members of "Green boxes" being placed throughout the Village; Mount Prospect
Public Library, Village Hall, Part Districts. These boxes will contain information for residents in case of a
Village emergency with loss of electricity, phone service, chemical attack etc. Citizen Emergency Response
Team of volunteers will be responsible for monitoring the boxes with information for residents.

YOUTH COMMISSION AGENDA
N A George Clowes suggested a more detailed Youth Commission Agenda be created for future distribution.
