Chairman Busse called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Roll Call: George Busse, Chairman
Hank Friedrichs III, Commissioner

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Commissioner Friedrichs and seconded by Commissioner Skowron to approve all Open
Session Minutes listed above.
Voice Vote:

Nays: None Motion Carried
CONTINUATION OF ORIENTATION FOR NEW MEMBERS OF THE BOFPC
This topic was tabled to the next meeting Mr. Hill, the Village Attorney, is available.

A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Friedrichs to go into Closed
Session at 6:10 p.m.

The Board reconvened at 6:44 p.m. with everyone present.
APPROVAL OF SERGEANTS ELIGIBILITY LIST
Chairman Busse asked for a motion to approve
A motion was made by Commissioner Friedrichs and seconded by Commissioner Skowron to establish the
Promotional List for Police Sergeants, with the eight officers as they are listed on the eligibility roster, dated
September 5, 2008.

Chairman Busse asked for a motion to provide direction in the case of ties on the Promotional List for Police
Sergeants.
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Friedrichs to approve in the
case of ties that the Board would utilize the aggregate of the written score and Chief's Merit and Efficiency
points to break the tie.
Voice Vote: Ayes: Busse, Friedrichs, Skowron

POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Dahlberg briefly reported on department staffing.
FIRE DEPARTMENT ORAL INTERVIEW DATES
Chief Figolah reported the fire department has vacancies to fill and there is a fire academy being held in
Arlington Heights starting October 6th. The Chief requested the Board consider interviewing 12 candidates to
establish a new list. The Board agreed to conduct interviews on Monday, September 8th, starting at 4:00 p.m.
SELECTION OF QUESTIONS & PROCESS FOR FIRE DEPARMENT ORAL INTERVIEWS
Chief Figolah presented a list of ten (10) oral interview questions for the Board's review and approval. A total of
eight (8) questions are necessary for the interviews. The Board eliminated questions 3 & 10 and made an
adjustment to question 9.
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Friedrichs to accept the
interview questions, as adjusted.

FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Figolah reported on department staffing. Staff is also preparing for the next testing cycle for new
probationary firefighter/paramedics and will update the Board at the next meeting.
OTHER BUSINESS
Chairman Busse reported he spoke to someone interested in becoming a member of the Board. The Chairman
also reminded everyone to turn in their registration for the Illinois Fire & Police Commissioners Conference,
which will be held on October 31st and November 2nd in Schaumburg.
The next meeting will be held on October 13,2008, at 6:00 p.m.
With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Friedrichs and seconded by Commissioner
Skowron to adjourn at 7:14 p.m.
