RESOLUTION NO. 06-09
A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF
CAROL YN H. KRAUSE
TO THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT and
THE 66th DISTRICTOF ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, CAROLYN H. KRAUSE was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; she received a Bachelor
of Arts from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and Juris Doctor with honors from IIT-Chicago-
Kent College of Law; and
WHEREAS, CAROLYN H. KRAUSE has been a resident and valued member of the Village of
Mount Prospect for forty-two years; and
WHEREAS, for more than 35 years CAROLYN H. KRAUSE has been a powerful and respected
champion for the residents of Mount Prospect and the 66th District serving three (3) consecutive
terms as Mayor; 1977, 1981 and 1985, and four (4) consecutive terms as State Representative of
the 66th District; 1993, 1997,2001 and 2005; and
WHEREAS, as Mayor the accomplishments of CAROLYN H. KRAUSE were numerous and
contributed to the long-term physical, financial, social and cultural growth of the Village, and as a
testament to her strong commitment to open and responsive government CAROLYN H. KRAUSE
initiated the Village Newsletter, Saturday Coffee with Council and the live weekly broadcasting of
Village Board meetings via cable television; and
WHEREAS, CAROLYN H. KRAUSE has exemplified the highest standards of public office and
brought voice to the needs and concerns of her constituents; as an advocate for health care she
played an integral role in the development of Kid Care and Access to Care Programs; and
WHEREAS, CAROLYN H. KRAUSE never forgot the citizens who elected her nor waivered in her
"fight" to obtain funding for local services and programs to benefit all those she was entrusted to
serve; transportation grants for seniors, Illinois First grants for creek stabilization, downtown
redevelopment improvements and many others; and
WHEREAS, throughout her public career CAROLYN H. KRAUSE has been a respected and
powerful champion of women's rights; an early advocate of the Equal Rights Amendment she
also sponsored the law which established the Task Force on Displaced Homemakers; and today
she stands as an exemplary figure to all women who have or will choose the path of public office;
and
WHEREAS, having served the Village of Mount Prospect and the State of Illinois with excellence,
dedication and respect, CAROLYN H. KRAUSE leaves a legacy of dedicated public service.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the President and Board of Trustees along with the community as a whole
thank you for your tireless and unselfish devotion to public service and the betterment of Mount
Prospect and the 66th District, and wish you the best in your future endeavors.
SECTION TWO: That an official copy of this Resolution be suitably prepared and presented to
CAROLYN H. KRAUSE as a perpetual memento.
SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval in the manner provided by law.
